Leinster April 3rd

Post by vi lover »

Wow! We've been to STJ multiple times, but never over Spring Break. Hiked to Leinester today. 9:40am the lot was already full. I have never seen it so busy! Still enjoyed our day - just more accustomed to 20 people on the beach versus probably 60+ today.

How was the current there, how about the surf? We're thinking of heading there on Friday?

Beautiful crystal blue waters. No surf to speak of. We don't go out to the Cay, so current not an issue for us.

We will be there a month from today - hopefully the spring breakers will be gone :) We have never gone during spring break or even during "season" - we are very used to quiet beaches and not the crowds of 60! I think I am going to keep going off season. We like the quiet so much, they we usually show up at the beach around 8:00 and clear out around noon when it starts picking up! Seriously, there is nothing like having Trunk Bay all to yourself like we did a few years back (for about 20 minutes).

Countdown begins...the next month can't go quick enough! Coincidentally, we are travelling with our friends from Richmond who will be visiting St. John for the first time!

Yep, that's why we hit Virgin Gorda for last year's Easter week/spring break. Virgin Gorda was quiet!

It's easy for me to whine about St. John's popularity, but it's still my favorite for a lot of reasons. We're back to St. John on a sailboat in two weeks.

Cheers, RickG
