Leinester Parking?
Leinester Parking?
Can early risers still drive down the grassy path a ways to park? Wife had some recent surgery and I'd like to shorten her hike if possible.
Thanks!!
Thanks!!
Re: Leinester Parking?
On our trip last June, we saw one car go about 1/4 mile down that path and park right next to a small, old bridge...it was a small car, like a Geo Tracker. And while I think it can still be done, I'm not sure I'd chance it. The path on the seaside is starting to erode away and I'm guessing the NPS is hoping it eventually becomes foot traffic only...they're definitely not trying to keep it drivable from what I've seen.
It’s not about yesterday or tomorrow...It’s about today, for come what may – Sun, rain, or hurricane – we've only time for a smile, and none for sorrow

We were able to drive down to the old bridge this past September. I would only attempt it in a Jeep. The area around the bridge does look eroded, but it has been that exact same way the last 3 times we have been there, It looks unstable, but is solid. You would need to go early and be comfortable driving on rough terrain.

I was there in March; 2 jeeps were parked just past the bridge. The newbies I took were amazed that someone had actually driven on that "road". I had told them that some drove down the path to cut the hike short but they didn't believe me till they saw the cars!

We still park there.

You should check if your jeep rental has a clause about driving on non-paved roads before you consider that.
