Passports for kids?

Post by GG53 »

Do kids under age 6 need a passport to travel to BVI's for the day? We were thinking of taking the ferry to Virgin Gorda for the day. Is a copy of birth certificate adequate or is a passport needed? Thanks

Yes, I'm sorry to say. Once you leave the US Territory and enter British waters you will need a passport. I just had to renew my children's since they are under 16. Every five years and I almost forgot for an upcoming trip. It will take about 4-6 weeks for one but you can pay extra to have it done within three weeks. Hope you enjoy your trip :)

We got our kids passport cards- they are less expensive- and are for sea or land travel. You can't use them to fly, but worked perfectly for traveling to the BVI's. :D
