East End Villa Andara

Post by havinfun »

Can anyone give me any information about the East End and Coral Bay area? Has anyone stayed at Villa Andara? How far are the beaches, nightlife & dining. Is there a taxi that will go to Cruz Bay and back to Coral Bay?

would you rely solely on taxi? if so, i think you'd be disappointed-- i have arranged for a taxi to take me to and from Cruz Bay for dinner for a price-- I have not stayed at Andara, but the house is beautiful-- and the folks that own it are very nice-- it is out on the east end so there will be a bit of a ride (10 mintues ?) to coral bay area restaurants and another 30 or cruz bay. Coral bay has some good dining options, aqua bistro, oasis, skinnys, sweet plantains, miss lucy's , reggies bbq, ekate pink corner, the tourist trap, cafe concordia-- all are different with a different vibe-- some local cuisine, some finer dining, some burgers/etc. If you stay in the coral bay area though you really do need a car.

Andara is spectacular.

There is a house being built next door but depending when you are planning on visiting it probably would not be a noise factor unless you plan on spending everyday at the pool as you will be (I assume) at the beaches all day and by the time you return the construction would be finished for the day.

You 100% need a car to stay there - no taxis available in Coral Bay so one would be to come get you from Cruz Bay and I don't know any that would go to East End

Thank you for the information. We are renting a Jeep. Don't want to have to many drinks and drive if we were to go out a few nights. We are arriving in June for a week, is the villa to far out? Should we look at other villas?

Andara is about 12 miles from Cruz Bay and 5 miles from Coral Bay.....about 40 minutes to Cruz and about 15 to Coral.

It is a very nice well maintained villa.

Views and sunsets are delightful.

We take care of satellite TV systems in over 300 villas .

Anadara is one of the nicest on STJ.

Villa Andara is beautiful. We stayed there last November, really enjoyed it, and have it booked again this November (will be our first villa repeat). It has a great view of Haulover North and Tortola, is somewhat secluded, is very secure (solid doors with multiple locks), has a nice pool and jacuzzi, has comfortable beds and a well equipped kitchen, etc., etc., etc. We had zero complaints.

There are some things to keep in mind prior to booking. There was construction going on next door during our stay, but it never woke us up or disturbed us during the day. It is 30 to 45 minutes away from Cruz Bay (depending on how you drive), but only 10 to 15 minutes away from Coral Bay. The driveway is steep, but you can always leave your car on the road as there is no traffic. There are roughly 30 steps to get from the bottom of the driveway to the villa. If you don't have any issues with what I just mentioned, I wouldn't hesitate to book it.

Thank you. It is booked! Very excited about this trip...first timers, group of 6. How is the weather in June? We will be there 14-21. My only real worry was the driving, but I think we have that worked out. We just want to relax and have some fun. We are a group ages 30's -40's want to do a little partying, but nothing crazy. We have stressful jobs and this will be so relaxing. Thank you for all the advice. Has anyone used a provisioning service? We will be in early and can do our own shopping, but it would be nice to have it there already.

I've never been in June, so I'm not sure if the weather is perfect or slightly less than perfect that time of year. I understand it gets a few degrees warmer during the summer, so I'd anticipate mid-eighties during the day and upper-seventies at night. FYI, a 30% to 40% chance of rain weather report translates to mostly sunny with a quick shower every now and again.

I also don't know about provisioning. My guess is that no one will come out that far to provision, but you could check with the rental company (Viva Villas were great to work with, nicely and quickly helping us out when my in-laws locked themselves out of their safe).

On the topic of food, Ted's Supper Club (personal chef, http://www.tedssupperclub.com/aboutted.html) made the trip out to Andara to cook for us. This is a little expensive, but Ted is an amazing chef, so it's well worth it. Just don't book him your last night like we did, as you'll want to enjoy the leftovers the following day.

Other things to do on the East End: visit Sloop Jones' art studio (Sloop has been posting on your topic), stop by Vie's snack shop for lunch and hang out at the beach there, have a drink on Angel's Rest (http://www.facebook.com/angelsrestcoralbay, call Peter as his floating bar visits different beaches), snorkel Haulover North and South, etc. I'm probably leaving out some good stuff; amongst friends I'm a St. John expert, but on this forum I'm an infrequently-posting novice.

I'd also highly recommend booking a trip to the BVI via Captain John from Island Roots (http://www.islandrootsusvi.com/tours/th ... l-st-john/). He'll pick you up in Coral Bay behind Skinny Legs (conveniently 10 minutes or so from Andara) and is an excellent captain.

Enjoy your vacation! Just be sure to pack your sense of adventure!

weather in June, we vacationed last June and stayed on Coral Bay side.

there was a heat wave while we were on island, was in the nineties during the day...but with the wind it never felt that hot. (nothing like our humid heat in the Southeast) There was a constant breeze on Coral Bay side and anywhere up in the hills.

It was hotter in Cruz Bay, even at night.

The ocean temps were perfect..I never got cold.

We were there last June as well. Like CBama said...it was warm ! But that is the way we like it ! Means the water is warmer as well :) We are also going to be back there this June 11-22 . We too are staying in Coral Bay for the first time. Not to far from where you will be...we are at Heaven's Gate. Hope you have a great time and "GET IT" as everyone says on here. This is our 7th or 8th time over. Actually I've lost count ! :)

Thank you for all the advice. Is there a grocery store or gas in Coral Bay?

Where is Josephine's? is this a spot for produce?

We are staying at Andara for two weeks starting THIS Saturday for our wedding and honeymoon. Can't wait! This is our second trip, fell in love with the pics of the villa on-line. Hopefully the drive won't be an issue as it is out there.
