San Juan Attire Question

Post by nothintolose »

We are staying the final night of our vacation on San Juan and were wondering if we have to bring any clothes that are more dressy than what we would wear on STJ.

We are staying in Old San Juan. Can we get by with shorts and shirts or do we need something more fancy?

Thanks in advance,

Old San Juan is full of other tourist. Most of them wearing shorts, t's, and tennis shoes. If you would like to eat at a nicer resturant and your checking luggage anyway, then I would go ahead and throw in something a bit more dressy. I have the great fortune of having Puerto Rican friends/family that I visit often; I definately bring more dressy clothes to PR than to STJ. In short, you certainly wouldn't be out of place in really casual clothes but if you wanted to be less of a tourist then bring something nice to wear.

Hardonyou,

Thanks for the response.

Are there enough restaurants in Old San Juan that we wouldn't have to pack a nice outfit for one night? In other words, casual restaurants?

Thanks,

In Old San Juan, go to the Parrot Club for dinner. Casual, usually a band, and the best damn mojitos around!! They have great empanadas and plantains as well. I find the Old San Juan to be very dressy at night since there's a "hip" nightclub there and very cool cigar bar. Have fun!!!
