We were told the smell was because the mangrooves were exposed and not underwater???? behind the dumpster...

It was quite noticeably worse the beginning of our trip in June than at the end...or maybe we just got accustomed to it, if that is possible....

were they underwater completely this trip??

That's what I thought too, but water level seemed fairly low to me. Who knows but it was pretty nice!! I have not been there when it didn't stink, but this time almost made me forgot it!!

We were there in January for 3 weeks and it only smelled a couple of days. We were walking and the smell did not come from the dumpsters but from the Mangroves. It stunk well before we reached the dumpsters. When we were there someone was cleaning out a house and dumping everything in the dumpsters. The dumpsters had more business than Love City Market for a couple days. I think the word was spreading. It was a strange thing to see so many people gathered around taking stuff out of a Dumpster. In all honesty there did looked to be some perfectly good stuff.
