Anniversary Dinner - Where?
Anniversary Dinner - Where?
We are headed back to the rock in 128 days (not that anyone is counting) and will celebrate our 11th anniversary while on island. Our last visit was September 2010, and I know much has changed on the dining front in that time. I look forward to trying a couple of new places (Fatty Crab, Sam & Jack's Deli, Motu bar) but really want some suggestions on our anniversary dinner. Though ZoZo's and Asolare are often recommended, we've done both multiple times and would like to branch out.
La Tapa? Leaves a bit to be desired on location. Waterfront Bistro? Nice waterfront location but are the bugs a problem in June? One of the Caneel places? We obviously have time but the planning and anticipating is part of the fun. Thanks in advance!

Re: Anniversary Dinner - Where?
Have you considered this? I think it would be really different and intimate. I have never used him but have seen great reviews.

Re: Anniversary Dinner - Where?
I so want to try one of the Caneel places. Also, as a special treat on our last trip,
we picked up bbq at Joe's, headed back to the villa for a couples' massage (thank you Krista), and then enjoyed the sunset. It was the best night yet on the island.

Re: Anniversary Dinner - Where?
Zozo's (at the bar) would always be my first recommendation, but since you mentioned you had been there a few times and were looking for something new, I would suggest you add The Terrace to your list of places to consider. Just opened this past fall at the location of Cactus Blue and the Stone Terrace. Somewhat of a view from the rail of Cruz Bay (not Zozo's view though), sort of a view though of the Beach Bar. The Colorado Rack of Lamb was probably the best my wife and I have ever had. Owners/Chef previously from Waterfront Bistro and La Tapa. Can't wait to get back!

Re: Anniversary Dinner - Where?
Ed - thank you for the Terrace recommendation. I like the menu - I know things change quickly on St. John, so I'll check back in closer to our trip to see if this place is still getting raves. I know the location well.
We will be in a Grande Bay studio on this trip, so unfortunately an in-rental meal is not an option. We will have only a kitchenette, which suits me just fine as I am tired of cooking!

Re: Anniversary Dinner - Where?
As an aside, someone thinks they saw Mario Batali at The Terrace earlier this week....

Our view from a dinner at The Terrace St John in November was pretty good!

... no longer a stranger to paradise
Re: Anniversary Dinner - Where?
Yes, I think Terrace would be nice too. We tried to eat there twice our last trip, but they were closed both times. I really wanted to try it though, and the view posted by Iprof looks great. Enjoy your anniversary!
