Rather than start a new thread every time I want to torture all of you I decided to start a thread that we all can add pictures to.
I'll start...
Today I made some chicken wings. They were rubbed with John Henry Wild Cherry Chipotle rub, cooked for two hours at 225 and then glazed with Blues Hog sauce thinned with some black cherry juice. I made 18 wings but these were all that were left by the time I grabbed the camera

I also made a fatty with Bob Evans regular breakfast sausage.

Finally, baby back ribs. Also rubbed with Wild Cherry Chipotle and cooked for about 5 hours at 225 then glazed with Blues Hog thinned with black cherry juice.

I'll play! Here is yesterday's breakfast, heuvos rancheros. Note that I cheated and used a flour tortilla. I hate corn tortillas for some reason. St. John food-related fact: I found the plates they are on on the sale rack at the Caneel Bay gift shop for $8/each.

It's like looking in your soup and finding a whole different alphabet.
We are heading to my sister's later for Chicken and Ribs. We are bringing the VI Pale Ale and Cornbread. I got this recipe from my girlfriend who always called it Aunt Pauline's Cornbread - for her aunt who gave her the recipe. So I call it Alison's CB. Feel free to call this MB's cornbread if you'd like
I'm sure traditionalist would say this isn't the real deal but it sure is yummy! Enjoy!
Cornbread
Soften 1 Cup butter ahead of time or use Crisco butter flavored sticks
Combine: 3 Cups of Bisquick
5 Heaping Tbls. Cornmeal
1 Cup Sugar
1 Tsp. Baking powder
Add: 3 eggs
1 ½ C milk
softened butter
Pour ingredients in a greased 9x13 pan. Bake at 350 for 30 minutes. Top should be golden and the cake should not shake - should be firm to the touch.
Great for a crowd, best right out of the oven ! Try it with Raspberry jam …
And FYI I make it on vacation a lot. I mix all the dry ingredients at home in a big ziploc and then just pick up the other things when grocery shopping.

Thanks for the porn food pics...they all look great! I haven't eaten today, just threw for our lunch into the oven, it is: a layer of corn tortillas, then black beans, onions, red/yellow/orange peppers, spinach and portabello mushrooms, with cheese sprinkled over as I layered it, then another layer of corn tortillas then a big can of green verde sauce. After 30 mins in the oven I'll cover the top with cheese and cook another 30 mins.
But right now I relaxing and drinking a sangria and it is feeling good!!

Those plates are from Earthworks pottery in Barbados- and they cost a lot more than $8 to buy and ship! I'd love to get more. Did Caneel have anymore?

I volunteered to cook but my mother and my wife wanted corned beef and salami from a kosher deli near my parents house, so that's what we had!
Liamsaunt, the huevos ranchero look fantastic! The plates look cool, too.
Mary Beth, I love corn bread! I've been cheating and using a box mix from Trader Joes. It's very good for a mix.

Yeah, they were marked down from $55/each, I think. I cleaned them out of the plates, but they had some serving stuff that I left behind--platters and pitchers, things like that. Now mind you, I bought these plates on last year's trip, so I am sure everything is gone now. It pays to poke around in their shop!starfish wrote:liamsaunt:
