Villa search...help!

Post by northerngal »

I just can't seem to find "THE" villa for us for next winter. I need to have a dream going to get me through all this SNOW! Another 10 inches predicted this week.....We are looking the the Coral Bay/Carolinas/ B. Mountain area. There will be just the two of us but we would like a pool and an outdoor shower. I just fell in love with that idea last time we were there. We aren't going until next January and hope to be there over a week. Our budget is around $3000. any suggestions?

Lots of coices meet your criteria!

Here's how I would do it---
First choose where you want to be (if you care)...top of the mountain, near the ocean, near town, etc...
Then I use the villa map to see what some of my choices are in the area I want
Then I start looking at amenities, prices, availability

Feel free to use the villa map in my signature line...remember it has two pages of map location info!

A few areas come to mind as possibilities: Mamey Peak, Upper Carolina, Top of Bordeaux

Have fun!

Check out Island Dreams: http://www.vrbo.com/399708

Heated pool, full AC, gorgeous views of Coral Bay and beyond. You may not need the AC in the winter, but you'll appreciate the heated pool.

I just had a pleasant correspondence with a member of the owners' family, who posts on this forum (but keeps a low profile). He seemed so nice, and the place looked so lovely, that I quickly added Island Dreams to my "recommend" list. :D

I just realized that my previous recommendation doesn't have an outdoor shower (although I still think you might like the place). Actually, it's not that easy to come up with a moderately priced place with a mountain view, a pool and an open-air shower. The only one in my spreadsheet that has all three is Coconut Hill Cottage: http://www.vrbo.com/115186

If my husband didn't prefer a hot tub to a pool we probably would have stayed there by now. Even so, I keep it on the list because of the view, the price and the huge screened porch. I don't see any pictures of the open-air shower, but I'm sure I saw it mentioned in a couple of the reviews. If the shower idea means a lot to you, you might contact the owners and ask for a picture. We rented a villa last year that had an "open air shower" and I was a bit disappointed to discover that it wasn't one of those romantically landscaped garden showers but just a very ordinary enclosed shower with no roof! We liked the villa for other reasons, but it wasn't quite what I was hoping for in the shower department.

Viewtiful at Privatehomesvi.com. Sweet! Lots of villas that meet your requirements for about $3200 but the discounts only start to kick in around November. Don't hesitate to make them a. Offer if you are booking this early, particularly if it is for January.
