What Is The Coolest Sea Creature You've Spotted?

Post by Dan »

Some of my favorite snorkeling in St John has been when I've come across sea creatures that you don't typically see.
Eagle rays, lemon sharks, octopus, tarpon, etc. But my favorite has been the manta rays that I saw in Maho bay last year. I didn't believe they were in St John until I saw them for myself. I got a couple of pictures but am hoping next trip I will get even close to them.

I'm wondering what others have seen that make your snorkeling great!

I've posted some of my pictures on my blog too.

I ran into this little guy in the center by the turtles on Maho in 2008. Pretty cool. Sorry for the 2 pictures, but I didn't get a good shot of him.

A Goliath grouper in STJ that had to be 6 feet long or more. It was a rare sighting and so cool!

The coolest creature we have seen while snorkeling was a leopard flatworm. We had to research a bit before we knew exactly what he was but we were lucky enough to be able to hang with him for quite awhile in Maho. We found out his exact species from an article in St John Magazine that by coincidence was in our villa featuring an article about the 25 most unusual critters to see in St John Waters!! Then we looked him up on You Tube because his movement was so unique and for sure this was our beautiful little hermaphrodite!!

Cross your fingers- this is my first attempt at posting a link to a couple pictures ( I couldn't post them right into the body because they aren't in my IPad! ) Help!!
