When I'm home alone and in the shower I lock the bedroom door. I guess I've seen too many scarey movies involving a shower.

I am way too modest, but more than that, I just want a few minutes of privacy, so a little alone time when showering and sitting on the toilet is not too much to ask IMHO.

As far a nude beaches.......if your a hunk, twig and berries is fine with me. It's usually the folks that should be wearing berkas and not birthday suits that I find running around nude. :?

Just provoking a little bit.
I actually thought most people wouldn't find any offence in being naked at home and I also thought you wouldn't leave a place just because someone would get naked.

A couple of years ago I was in Formentera, a small Spanish island close to Ibiza, and most locals were naked. They didn't bother me, at least until they kept their dogs from choosing my towel to relax and my umbrella for a little shadow.
I love dogs, but sometimes they go too far.

Bollicine, I never saw my parents naked when I was growing up...to me, that's just weird. I did see them getting dressed sometimes, but they were always wearing underwear. Where I'm from, seeing your parents naked is unusual...I know that I could ask my 50 closest friends and they'd all say the same.

I'm also very uncomfortable with public nudity...and it has nothing to do with how good or bad the person's body is...I don't want to see anyone's naked body, no matter how perfect it is...some things are just private, and I don't want to see them. If the most beautiful beach in the world was a nude beach, I would not go there.

There are some parts of my body that are just for my husband...

My two cents :)

Why is no one ever good looking who decides to do this!?
We saw this same guy on a couple of trips a few years ago at Francis and another beach. We nicknamed him "Banana Hammock Guy". Haven't seen him in recent trips to which I'm sure my wife would declare "Thank goodness! If I knew he was a local fixture (like Lindy) he'd be an excellent addition to a St. John treasure hunt - picture with "skinny and mostly nekkid guy"

Funny story, speaking of nekkid beaches. Hubby and I ventured over to the nude section of our resort beach area in Jamaica and, low and behold, what comes into our view but a fully nekkid male JOGGER  . Now, it's one thing to lay on a towel nekkid. It's another thing to venture out to the (somewhat cold  ) ocean nekkid. HOWEVER, it's quite another thing for a dude to JOG nekkid!! It looked like a freakin' metronome

My husband and I accidentally arrived on a nude beach in Florida once many years ago. We were the only dressed ones and many of them should have remained dressed.
We saw a family of 4 walking hand in hand with little kids, all nude! I found that odd, but that's just me. We turned around and got out of there as soon as we could because we felt out of place.

Since we're having fun taking about naked folks, I have a question:

Have you ever rented a clothing optional villa? If you were to stay at one, would you be comfortable walking around nude?

If I were to stay at a clothing optional villa, I would probably spend the first hour there sanitizing all the bar stools, chairs, etc. Then I would put towels over the couch cushions. I would be thinking of all the bare butts that sat there before me! Am I a freak? I'll admit I'm a bit of a germaphobe (you won't catch me sitting down in a public restroom.) And as for walking around nude, I'd feel compelled to suck in my stomach all day, even if no one else was there! Too much work.

Alright, I've made my weird personality quirks public... what about the rest of you?

Chicagoans - I agree with you 100%. I am also very germ conscience too!

The first year we were married we went to Cape Cod for vacation and went to a beach in Province Town. It turned out to be a nude beach. We saw many people that should have been covered up because 'it won't pretty'.
We have had many laughs over the years talking about that day on the beach.

Well, the villas usually advertise "discrete clothing optional privacy" so it's up to you. It's considered polite (I've been informed) to carry your own towel to sit on in the nudist/naturist world. Lets be honest, the idea of sitting on unclean furniture is gross, however it became soiled - wet bathings suits or dry rear ends.

There are some social taboos regarding nude/naked/nekkid that alway raise some hackles. In my experience, nudists would rather not have gawking clothed people on their beaches.

Me? I follow the social norms appropriate for the occasion. Ranger Steve says no nudity on St. John NP beaches. Ranger Steve does not get invited to my villa. I do have a towel.

Cheers, RickG

LOL Chicagoan, I already do that in any villa we rent

You never know what an innocent looking couch cushion could be harboring...

If I walked around naked at home or at a villa, my husband would never leave me alone!

Chicagoans.......You said everything for me. We are kindred non nudists. Germs. and the suck in you stomach comment when you're alone.....so true.

I don't like seeing myself nude, muchless displaying it to the world. Plus my Catholic school upbringing can make anyone insecure and selfconscience. (That was many years ago. I'm sure it's not like that now.)
