Question for mindehankins

Post by Lindy »

Hi Minde! How was the rest of your trip with your daughter? I'm especially wondering if she finally got into snorkeling by the time you left.

Hi Lindy, we're at the airport now, waiting for our flight home. I think it took her 3 days just to get in the water deeper than her ankles! No, she would not snorkel, but by the end of the trip, she enjoyed swimming in the ocean at least! And the trip was just great - so great that I hardly went online :)

That's fantastic and the way that it should be! I hope you feel proud of yourself for getting around the island on your own and introducing your daughter to new experiences. My first trip to STJ was ladies only in order to meet up with MY daughter there. My husband would go back to the Midwest to go deer hunting with our son so when my daughter mentioned that she was going to STJ I decided to go too with a couple girlfriends rather than sit home alone while the "boys" were off playing. I "bribed" my daughter to spend some time with us by paying for her to have 3 days at the ecocamp at Maho before we got there - then she had to come and spend the rest of her week with the ladies. I can honestly say that was the BEST vacation of my whole life and we had SO much fun without men to worry about! I was sort thrown into the position of making all the arrangements and doing the driving by default because my two girlfriends were even more lame than I was at the time and my daughter had never gotten a driver's license. I'd always counted on Hubby to do everything and just followed him around and that trip really forced me to grow up and wear my big girl panties.I learned that I could manage just fine and gained a ton of confidence. My daughter travels all over on her own - she was on Survivor a few years ago half way around the world and once spent 3 weeks travelling around China all by herself. If she could do THAT, I figured I could survive a week in the US VI. I've been back 4 more times always leading the way for others (including the MEN!!)....much thanks to this forum for so much useful information. The last trip was with ladies only again and I hope to be able to do that a few more times in my life because it REALLY is more fun without the men!

Oh, that was you with the Survivor daughter! I hadn't put that together, or I had and it fell apart in my brain ;)
I did feel proud of myself for putting on my big girl panties and showing Jillian that her mama still has a few tricks up her sleeve! We've come to a point in her life where there are not so many things that I'm "better" at. That's not a bad thing, but it was neat to introduce her to something brand new - and she just loved it. I know she'll be back.

(Things are going according to plan...... )

Sorry to highjack the thread - Lindy, who was your daughter and what season was she on? (If you don't mind saying.)
I love that show! :)
