Bay Rum Breeze Or Villa Tiffany

Post by momto3boys »

Has anyone stayed in or seen both?

Trying to decide which one would be best for us. Looking for a very private pool and pool deck area. Heated pool would be a plus because I am sort of a wimp. We stayed up Calabash Boom before so the roads do not worry me either way. We actually want a Villa that will feel so comfortable that we will not mind having several Villa days just to relax and enjoy the pool, grill out and make our own drinks. It will be just my Husband and I, so truly both are larger than we need. But the views at both are to die for.

We stayed at Bay Rum Breeze in 2011. I had also considered Villa Tiffany but ultimately chose Bay Rum Breeze because of its more central location. BRB is about a 90 second drive from the intersection of Northshore and Centerline, so about 5 minutes from Maho. We like the Ajax/Mamey Peak area.

Do you know what Villa would be above it? I contacted them and they said there is one above. They were not sure if they had a good view of the pool area at BRB or not. I would like to know that before renting. What did you think of BRB?

Above Bay Rum Breeze? We stayed at BRB in February 2012 and I only noticed one other house "up" that road and it didn't appear to be a rental. It looked like a "real" house as opposed to a rental villa.

We absolutely loved Bay Rum Breeze. Everything was "right" about the house, which says a lot because we are a tough crowd when it comes judging houses.

I have raved about it before and will sound like a broken record but so be it. The design and finishes are top notch and it was spick span clean. The kitchen had everything we could ask for. The outdoor areas are large (both covered and uncovered) with great furniture. We were a party of 6 adults and one child and we all had room to spread out.

The access to the main road is very quick, as TR mentioned. In my book, that is a huge plus. There were some bumps but the road is so short, it didn't bother anyone. I have no patience when it comes to long access roads. I get my fair share of "country roads" in real life.

There is no villa above it on the mountain, as it's pretty much at the top. If you go further up the road that BRB is on, I believe there is at least one other house, but it's lateral in relation to BRB, not above it. The pool area is private because the exterior bedroom is on one side and there's basically mountain on the other side.

Question about BRB.....
I think I had ruled it out in the past because it is 3 BR and we need 4....
But I just noticed it has a "study" that has a queen sleeper?? So our 20 something son could sleep in there..Right?
Can someone that has stayed there give me input on that particular room?
It looks like a really great rental!! Not sure how I missed that before...

The den is decent sized and I think it would be fine for a young adult. There is a half-bath on the first floor for nighttime potty runs.

During summer months does the solar heated pool get too warm to enjoy?

We stayed at Villa Tiffany a couple years ago. The view is amazing and we loved the privacy. There are no other villas in sight so the pool and everywhere else at the villa is totally private.
We were there in February and the pool was a little cold but not so much we didn't use it.
Happy to answer any other questions you might have any other questions about the villa.

I think my husband is leaning toward Villa Tiffany. Well actually he has another favorite as well that I did not mention and that is Estate Fortsberg. I am afraid of the privacy there. But he loves the straight on view for the sunrise. It is a beautiful Villa and I may just let him pick! Haha!

Did the Villa have everything that you needed? Would you rent it again? How was the hottub? I have heard that there is not view from there.

The villa was pretty new when we rented it and it needed a more kitchen items including glassware (we only had plastic wine glasses) but other than that it was great. The hot tub is set between the pool and the grill area and there isn't really much of a view from it or from the pool for that matter but after you get out of the pool and go to the edge of the decking it's a million dollar view.
Also when we were there internet access was limited to a plug in ethernet connection but I think I read they now have wifi. The villa management company is very good and can answer questions about what is updated.
We probably would not rent again but only because we discovered we aren't Coral Bay people, we like being close to Cruz Bay.
