Not about STJ - But a Thank You

Post by FlaGeorge »

As you all know, FlaGeorge and FlaSteph have been absent on the forum for awhile. On May 8th I did a quick post explaining why we had to cancel our trip to STJ. I'd like to thank the many forum folks that responded with caring and encouraging words - they meant a lot to both Steph and I.

Just a quick update on what has happen. Steph was diagnosed with a possible rare lung cancer called pleural Mesothelioma (cancer of the lining of the lung). This is a very aggressive cancer and people don't survive more then a year.

We decide to come to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston to get a definitive diagnosis last month. At that point, they did a biopsy that showed that it was not Mesothelioma - but they didn't know what it was. Her case was presented to a conference of doctors that all said this was the first time they have seen this (leave it to my wife to come up with something new).

We decided to come back to Houston to have the remainder of "Whatever it is" removed as a precaution. Steph came through the surgery fine and is doing well on her recovery. We're hopeful that she will be released from the hospital in the next few days and we can come home.

Again - thank you all for your prayers and well wishes.

That's great to hear. MD Anderson is a great place. Both my mother-in-law and her husband are patients there.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you both.

George and Steph,

Good to hear what it wasn't and that the procedure went well. You know what really speeds recovery? Planning a trip to STJ :D , but you already knew that, didn't you.
