Everyone else on the beach acted like they didn't care about the 2 naked on Soloman beach, but 1 guy kept walking up & down the whole length of beach--up, down, water, up, down, etc....

However, I saw a lot of people snicker & shake their heads after his back was turned.

Chicagoans: I wouldn't bring your 11 yo daughter there however, that would be awkward for her & may damage her perception of men--remember people who go naked usually shouldn't be naked--these 2 guys were frightening

LSU Beach Tiger:

Funny reference to the "frightening" nakos! I was thinking after posting my question that some people would think I was crazy to bring kids to a beach with potential nudity, and other people would wonder why I would care if people were naked. To each his own!

(I think we in the States are a bit more uptight about this, not being used to nude beaches in general. Just a guess, and yes, I'm speaking for myself, no one else.)

Nekkid guy

Post by Tina »

One trip, we had a mostly nekkid guy "following" us. We first saw him on Solomon...skin and bones in a g-string. Gross. We were on Solomon on a dingy. Then the next day we went to Francis and skinny mostly nekkid guy got up from his towel while we were walking down the beach to find somewhere to settle and walked in front of us until we had gotten enough of his soggy ass and turned around for the other end of the beach. Why is no one ever good looking who decides to do this!?

Wouldn't this be a great world if only the beautiful people got naked in public? Most people, myself included, should be seen naked by only the people who care about them for who they are on the inside.

We plan on hitting Solomon, but hope to only see blue sky, blue water, and white sand. No nudity.

really curious now

You're actually making me more and more curious about the subject.
But...how do you behave at home?
Lock the door of the bathroom when you take a shower and your kids are around?

I'd like to see an official sanctioned nude beach on STJ. This works well on St Martin.

But...why?
Don't you think they'll soon find out there's someone different from him/her and that growing up they'll change?
Everybody agrees on the fact that childern are innocent.
Sin is in the eyes of the onlooker, so if you see no sin, there's no sin.

Bollincine: totally different story when I'm at home! Yes, the kids see me in the shower and when I get out. But they're my family, and we're inside our own home. I wouldn't stand naked in my front yard and talk to the neighbors (or want them to stand naked in their yard and talk to me). Likewise, I wouldn't stand naked on a beach, but that's just me. I don't really care if someone else gets naked on a beach, but I won't be watching for them, either.

As for the kids and nudity. I would not take my daughter to orient beach in SXM (it is a well known sanctioned nude beach). I see nothing wrong with it but it just wouldn't be my #1 choice esp. since there are alternatives.

Now, if we are chilling out on Jumbie and a top comes off or what not, I won't pack up and leave. I don't even know if my daughter would say anything, she'd probably be too distracted by playing in the water or sand. If she did ask, I'd probably just say some people are comfortable without their shirts and that we keep ours on to protect us from the sun and sand. I am pretty sure it would not phase her at all and she'd go on about her business of digging to china.

When they are closer to puberty my tune may change. I just try to make her as comfortable with her body as possible, while still instilling a sense of what is private. Important in the world we live in unfortunately. I err on the side of not putting my kids in a situation that makes them uncomfortable. At their current ages, they aren't phased by nekkidness. So it would be fine. If I thought it would embarrass them at a later age then I'd be more careful.
