Honeymoon Villa Recommendations -- June 2013

Post by Abe »

Hello all,

My fiance and I are in the process of planning our honeymoon for next June and are looking for some villa recommendations. This will be our first trip to the island and we are planning to stay for 5-7 nights. We would like to be within walking distance to the restaurants, bars, grocery, etc., therefore, Cruz Bay sounds like the location for us.

As far as our budget, we are hoping to keep it under $250/night (hoping this is doable being that it will be during the off-season).

Things we are looking for in a villa include: pool and/or jacuzzi (preferably private but not a deal breaker), balcony/patio with a great view, grill, and air conditioning.

Any additional advice or recommendations for a couple of first timers would also be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

You will not find what you are requesting at any time of the year for $250 a night

That is not a terrible budget and you can likely find something but within walking distance to Cruz Bay will limit you to a condo.
If you are looking for a stand alone villa you will need to up the budget and rent a jeep.

If you are ok with a condo take a look at Grande Bay or Lavendar Hill

I have been looking for my son and his soon to be wife a place to stay also.
This is a place that is cheap and close to town. I do not know anything about it but
check it out. There are some places in that price range but most you need to rent a
car. Good luck.

Take a look at Aqua bay villas (aquabayvillas.com). It is a 4 unit complex and the 2 lower units are in your price range. There is a small pool (shared obviously), a grill that you share with the other small unit. No view down there, but you are just up the street from Frank Bay which is great to catch a sunset.

we were there early November and had the whole place to ourselves for almost a week.

"Bliss" is a standalone unit in a condo complex with a pool, and meets all your requirements except it is not a villa. http://www.vrbo.com/380848
I'm sure there are other options as well. You've come to the right place for help :) Welcome!

Thanks for the input everybody!

After doing some research it appears that there are very few private villas that have their own swimming pool or hot tub AND are within walking distance to town.

Is it essential to be within walking distance to downtown Cruz Bay? How easy is it to catch a cab if we happen to have a bit too much to drink? We do plan on renting a jeep for a few days wherever we stay, however, I really don't want to have worry about driving and finding parking each night when we go to dinner.

Thanks again for your help!

Check out casa Blanca. It has a private pool; it is the upper level of a duplex but the lower level can't use the pool (to the best of my knowledge). Is wi walking distance of CB, just past gallows point. We stayed there a few years ago before they renovated. It had some issues at the time but location and pool were great. We are staying at lavender hill condos next week :) and might have chosen casa Blanca but it was booked.

Well my fiance and I have narrowed our choices down to the following:

- Cloud Nine (Gift Hill) http://cloud9villas.com/cloud-nine

- Blue Aweigh (Chocolate Hole) http://www.carefreegetaways.com/home.ph ... e%20Aweigh

- Morgan Point (Great Cruz Bay) http://www.carefreegetaways.com/home.ph ... an%20Point

- Kinja (Cruz Bay) http://www.vrbo.com/311188

Has anybody stayed at any of these that could offer some insight? Out of these 4, which one would you guys recommend would be best to spend a honeymoon??

Thanks!

Hey Abe, check out the responses in this thread if you want a couple more suggestions. I had asked the same question a few months back. My daughter and fiance are still considering options.
