Ok girls...
Self tanners have come a long way...with an upcoming trip I need some color without the sun/tanning bed...
What have you found to be the best product to get a natural (NON ORANGE), non streaky tan??
Can include a great spray tan facility if it is in the DFW area . (Where do the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders go??) Got a spray tan once though and it was orange...had to scrub for hours..

I have fair skin and find the Jergens self tanner works best for my skin - the one that is for fair/medium tones. I wouldn't worry too much about getting color ahead of time though. Once you get there, just be sure to use at least SPF 30 and you will get color in a couple of days - if that. It doesn't take long - believe me

I like the kind that have a tint in them so you can see where you're applying it and avoid streaks.

I've been told that Clarins is the absolute best but it is pretty expensive (over $40). I have used the Jergens fair/medium and it has worked okay and have also used Jergens Express with no orange color at all, always avoiding knees and ankles.

I did a self tanner before a vacation once, and the first day I only went in the water up to my knees ( cool day). That night my legs were white from the knees down. Not an attractive look. If you don't tan quickly like me, you could lose that color the first on odd parts of your body, unless they have changed.

Use them very sparingly, to see if you like them. I tried three before our April trip, and they all looked awful. One was the Jergens, another the top line that QVC made and Clarins may be the last. I couldn't stand the stink, couldn't get an even application, and ended up pale on vacation, but it was still a great vacation.
I did have a little color despite seeking shade and covering up for the week, when we left.
Without a tan, I was SHOCKED at how quickly I burnt, so be prepared for that. The tan really seemed to be protective as I've never had a sunburn on any beach vacation before. I ended up in a long sleeve rash guard, long swim shorts and a buff on my head, for sun protection.

I like a sunless spray tan, there are a few product choices, but here in KC I've had the sunless perfection. You can tell them at the salon that you don't want the color to be too dark. The first day it can be a little too dark, but after a shower I love the color. It does get on your light colored clothes (a white bra is not a good choice after a spray tan!). Of course, it doesn't protect you from the sun either, so you'll have to wear sunscreen on STJ. But spray tans are fun, the color is nice (not orange) and it goes on evenly....it lasts about a week if you're in the water a lot.

I like and have used consistently L'oreal Sublime Bronze tinted self tanning lotion (not the spray). I use the medium shade (I'm fairskin).
Not sure of the exact price, but I think in the $10 to $15 range.
I try to apply it as evenly as possible and start using it a couple of days before I leave for vacation. Good Luck!

When I went to STJ in early October I used this lotion called "Fake Bake" which I ordered through Amazon, when you applied it there was a tint to it and it developed into a great color, no orange at all, I think it also comes in a spray, but after getting into the water the color wears off quickly like most of the other products out there, but it was a very reasonable price, around 24.00 for a decent size bottle.

That sounds like a tinted kind; the tinted variety has two types of color: immediate and longer lasting. The immediate color helps you know you're applying it in the right places. I always take a shower about 30 minutes after applying it because I don't want it rubbing off on other things. Then the longer lasting color develops by the next day. The longer lasting color is never nearly as dark as the immediate tinting.

I also use Fake Bake. The color is not orange, at all. I've bought it from their website and Amazon. Also found it at The Christmas Tree shops around Boston. Some professional salon stores carry it as well. Apply every couple of days for at least a week before you leave. It will wash off some in the shower, but you can build up to a nice color. I'll apply for a few weeks when I return to keep that vacay glow:)

Yes, Fake Bake does wash off in the water, just need to reapply, it is a very nice color...
