returning to usvi
Been awhile since I've been on this site and am very glad to have the opportunity to come back.
A friend of my wife has offered the use of her Westin timeshare the last week in October and of course we jumped at the opportunity!
So some questions so we can start planning:
Rental car--is it necessary? It'll be just me and DW. I know I can take taxi's to other beaches from the hotel but what about getting back? Are there cabs available or is it "come back and pick us up at x o'clock"? Reliable?
Groceries- Again just the two of us. If we just need food for breakfast and lunch and the occasional dinner in, where is the best place to shop? I'd prefer to not bring food with us but if it's best......
Does the Westin ferry go to/from Red Hook? We stayed at Sapphire a few years ago and enjoyed our time at Duffy's. Want to spend an evening or two there.
Better to spend the money on the Westin ferry or just use the "regular" one?
Thanks-there may be more to ask later but this will give us the basics.

Re: returning to usvi
I can help with 2 out of 3. I would rent a jeep if the budget allows, the freedom it gives you is well worth it. Close to the Westin are two markets one of which is Starfish. With just my wife and I, we can eat out fairly cheap (that I suspect is relative). We just grab sandwhich's to go or toss a pizza in the oven. Lastly, we have never stayed at the Westin so I do not know anything about their ferry or it schedule or location stops, someone else should be able to help you out there.

St John Market is right across the street for groceries.
We usually rent from O'Connor on site at the Westin for a few of the days to go to the beaches. For 2, taking a cab to BB is easy!
Westin ferry goes in and out of Crown Bay most of the time. The info is on the Westin STJ website!
We like the convenience of the Westin ferry but many others like the regular ferries.
