True, it's all a matter of perspective. I live in a state where you can see the weather approaching 50 miles away, and roads run so straight that people give directions in terms of compass points ("turn north," rather than "turn right"). So those corkscrew roads on St. John are pretty startling. Actually, I think they're fun, just not what I'm used to. And, as you point out, at least they're not icy.

I personally love the drive from Coral Bay to wherever and back. Even the switchbacks are fun. Gets the old heart racing for a bit. Can I do it? Can I make it? Sure I can, hang on tight cause here we gooooooo.

Check out the Ajax Peak or Upper Carolina areas! Close to Coral Bay with great views and convenient to beaches!

Well..We went to Colorado this summer and went over Independence Pass, elevation 12,000 feet. So hopefully we will be fine at 600 ft :D We have been to Tortola, St. John, etc before so we are familiar with the switchbacks, etc.

That's where the villa I am leaning towards is...so I guess I just need to go with it and be done with the search.. :D
