We just got a VITEMA alert stating that American Airlines cancelled all flights from STT and STX today. Does anyone know why? Thanks.

Because all flights fly through Miami and as Isaac is approaching they are not flying !! Currently it seems a bit drastic (I was just watching the Governor of Florida give a newscast re: the approaching storm and it was showing on the bottom of the screen a "ticker" with the wind gust of 16 mph !!! ) but having said that better to be safe than sorry.

I live i Key West and believe me, the gust were well above 16 mph. The Miami area ended up with much flooding, power outages and flying debris. Always better safe than sorry!
