Different kind of car rental question...I think!

Post by philbetm »

Hi Everybody,

Excited... :D ...We have set a date for a trip over again next June. Was over June 9th - 16th. this year...coming back June 2013 on the 11th - 22nd . Never have we been able to stay that long. We usually rent our vehicle on STT ... ? is...if we rent on STJ will the rental company allow us to take it over to STT to pick up another couple at the airport that is going to join us on the 15th ??

Gotta start looking for flights and homes now !
Got a second question. Since Hubby and I will be on STJ for 4 nights before moving to a house ( yet to be found) what would be your recommendations for a place that would rent for only 4 nights and is affordable ?
Like not over $200 to $225 a night ?

Thanks,
Sherry

unless the rules have changed, no rental companies on STJ can allow their cars to go to STT .
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>

We stayed here for a few nights before our villa was available a couple of years ago.

I kind of figured they wouldn't let you take the cars to STT. Guess that would put us back to renting on STT. Unless they ( the other couple) was open to taking a taxi to Red Hook and then the ferry...Hummm ?

Augi...A place close enough to walk into town sounds pretty good ! I'll look at this for sure. :)

Grande Bay is a good option for less than a week. You could consider being without a car.

We've stayed in this unit (owned by a forumite)

Aquabay Villas will also do a 4 night minimum. They are in Frank Bay. Haven't stayed there yet.

The Grande Bay Unit really looks nice . We would need the 1BR unit so that we can cook breakfast each morning and make beach lunches. It is open for our dates right now. Will show that to Tom (hubby).
Thanks Janet !

Depending on the 2cnd couples arrival time they may be able to just take the Charlotte Amalie -- STJ ferry instead of going all the way to Red Hook - why would you want to waste a day traveling back to the STT airport anyway?

I have been talking with Lee of Sugar Bird Nest and she's really easy to work with on a nightly rate, you might try her.

You're so right Exit Zero...it would be so much nicer to meet them at the STJ ferry dock than spend the day going to the airport...hope that will be an option with them.

vacagirl...does "Sugar Bird Nest" have a website ?

Thanks, Sherry :)
