Can definitely relate to the desire to divide up the island and pair up activities to maximize the experience...

That's sacrilege to many on this forum who like to slow it way down, but for those of us with short attention spans and an unhealthy need for a plan, it works.

My wife and I always tried to combine some form of exercise, food/frosty bev, and of course Limin' time...here are some combos we really enjoyed:

1) Park near the National Park HQ in Cruz Bay, grab some lunch sandwiches at Deli Grotto, hike to Salomon/Honeymoon for the morning and lunch, hike back to Cruz around 1pm, grab a drink at the Beach Bar or the Tap Room and then head back out the North Shore to find another beach like Gibney to Lime the afternoon away.

2) Hike Reef Bay in the morning, head to to Coral Bay and Skinny's for lunch, and then head back to North Shore via the Annaberg route and stop at soft sand Beach with some shade like Maho to nap all afternoon.

3) Waterlemon for snorkeling in the morning, Vie's for lunch, and then hit her beach in the afternoon, maybe stop by Sloop Jones, and then stop by a dinner spot like Shipwreck or Sweet Plantains on your way back.

4) Salt Pond in the morning for hiking (Rams Head) and Snorkeling (Blue Cobblestone), Tourist Trap for lunch, head back to Little Lameshur to Lime the afternoon away, more snorkeling if you want it, Miss Lucy's or Shipwreck for dinner on your way back to the villa.

5) Deli Groto Breakfast sandwiches, eat them on top of Peace Hill, look to your right at Trunk Bay then look to your left at Gibney, go to the one that's emptier, hit the Annaberg Ruins in the early afternoon, then hit another North Shore beach you haven't been to, dinner back in Cruz Bay.

Throw in a day trip to the BVI's somewhere, and that's a hell of a week on STJ.

Yep, I'm the over-planner, but planning can be half the fun.
It’s not about yesterday or tomorrow...It’s about today, for come what may – Sun, rain, or hurricane – we've only time for a smile, and none for sorrow

Well, for all of you athletic hiker types out there, I don't do that strenuous stuff. Heck, I get shin splints going to the fridge to get a beer.

No, I like to get up and enjoy the sun rise with a good cup of coffee, go skim the pool to rid it of the leaves and other organic material that collects over night, then get shin splints by going to the fridge and getting a breakfast beer. Then panic because of no ice  ....jump in a car and get ice!

Figure out which beach to go to that day.....go to it. Then end up at Skinney's for a Presidente and a Blue Burger (Yummm) then find another beach, then head to the tap room, Woody's, and the Beach Bar.

Head back to the villa, grill something for dinner, and by the time the sun goes down, so do I.

Whew! What a way to spend the day on St. John! 8) :D

Yes, that may seem strange to all the planners and doers, but I get enough of that here in the real world every day. I just hit some kind of time warp when I get to the Islands, and all sorts of gravity takes over....

One of our favorite Sundays is getting up and having coffee at
JJs then off to coral bay via north shore road. We stop at every overlook to take pics and just enjoy the beauty. Then we hit Jolly dog to shop, shipwreck for a rum punch, miss lucks for jazz brunch and a mimosa. Then skinny legs to shop and maybe a coconut swizzle. Tshirts, etc. Then to sloops and joesphines if we are still in a touring mood! Ha! May even head to tourist trap for a drink right drive left. Then we return to Cruz bay and join the beach bar gathering as this is what we do on our first Sunday on the island. It's one of our favorite days. Sometimes we shake it up and stop by cocolobo shops after shipwreck. Fun fun day!

I forgot, sometimes we return to Cruz using centerline and other times we return on north shore again and pop by Maho for a quick dip! I can't wait until june 20th to repeat this again!

Snorkeling at Pelican Rock, stopping at Sloop Jones and then finishing the afternoon off at Vies.

Snorkeling around Waterlemon Cay and then plopping ourselves at Leinster Beach to rest after the long snorkel.

Wow, 3 more weeks until we leave. :D

Can't agree more with Loria. Three great tandem events. I would add chasing Tess through Mongoose followed by the Taproom, fun.

Glad to see some oldies but goodie STJ lovers posting on the forum this week! All great suggestions for a fabulous days on the island! There is so much to do, see, explore on STJ that the choices are endless! That's why we always go back year after year! 8)
My motto is wake up. Throw on swimsuit, cover-up, hat, sunscreen, flip-flops. Eat breakfast at villa. Pack cooler, snorkel gear and towels. Decide which beach to drive to. Snorkel/swim/lounge in the morning. Eat lunch at beach or close by. Maybe one more beach or back to villa in the afternoon to chill/nap. Shower and heat up the grill for dinner or go out. Pool/hot tub/star watching and sleep. Rinse and repeat for a week. 8)
