Dry Bag

Post by GimmeSun »

I'm pretty sure this was covered awhile back, but I cant seem to find it anywhere. I even tried the search method, so please don't flag me. I'm looking for a dry bag. Any recommendations please?

I purchased as Sea to Summit (or similar name) a while back for use on our kayaks and it worked great. You should be able to find them at an REI store or other sporting goods store. I just recently purchased another one locally for about $25.

what are you trying to keep dry? (size, shape)
what type of wet hazard are you trying to keep it dry from? (rain, splash, submersion)

never met a sealline bag i didn't like!!!

also if you look at NRS they ususally have very good stuff-- and they really stand behind their items.

I purchase the dry bags that I don't feel are critical ( for dry food and other odds and ends) from REI or Sports Authority. The critical dry bags (sleeping bag, clothes) I purchase from NRS. The NRS bags are more expensive but I know I can trust them.

Wouldn't really be for anything to large. Mostly for wallet, cash, passport, non waterproof camera, sect. Like to use it kayaking and also on dinghy. Probably would like something for submersion, for use when on dinghy. We tie up to a mooring and will snorkel into the beach. So back to size, probably small to medium, it wouldn't really be for towels or clothing or anything that large.

You can find what you need in stores like Sports Authority,Dicks Sporting Goods or online at REI.com, NRS.com Campmoor.com or any site that outfits kayakers, canoeists or rafters.
There are lower end manufacturers like Texsport that will do just fine for most needs.
No matter what you purchase you should inspect the bag prior to using it and make sure you seal it correctly.
