Live from the Reef Bay Sugar Mill

Post by TrvlJohn »

Thing one wanted to see the petroglyphs so we got Karen settled on little Lamshur (again!) and hiked to the petroglyphs and the sugar mill. Don't think we will get any snorkeling in today - the water is really rough.

This made me think...
A few years back, I was hiking back from Reef Bay to our jeep at Lameshur, and there was a young couple descending the Lameshur Trail down towards the Reef Bay trail, but probably still about 2 miles from Reef Bay. They were "hiking" in flip flops, they each had a beach chair that thankfully is carried like a backpack, plus the guy was carrying a large cooler. Like a big chest cooler. I was sweating up the hill (returning to Lameshur) and they asked me if the beach at Reef Bay was worth the walk. Wow! How to answer that one? The beach at Reef Bay is fine, but I'm not going to lug a cooler up and over that hill to get there. And, quite frankly, I only go over to Reef Bay because it's a nice hike. It's not really about the beach for me. LOL... I wonder if that young couple is still together. Too bad they didn't just park themselves at little Lameshur.
Thanks again for the picture TrvlJohn!
