Cement Truck overturns on to Villa???

Post by Knolmom »

I stopped lurking for a day or so and then when I cam back and read the VI News online tonight I see that a cement truck overturned on a hairpin turn near Fish Bay and fell on to a villa. It was also reported that a tourist drowned at Waterlemon/Lenister.
Bad day in paradise.. is there anyone on island now that has any information on these stories?

How terrible :(
Let us live so that when we come to die even the undertaker will be sorry.

That is so sad.

I am curious about the truck turning over on the villa too.

Very sad. When we were out with Capt Phil, he and Tarn were talking about the young man who died recently of shallow water blackout. I'd never heard of it, and read quite a bit about it. I wonder if she just fatigued, or if it was this shallow water blackout? Very sad, no matter what cause. I hope she didn't know what was happening.
And YIKES! on the cement truck!

I just found out about the truck incident today. My friend and his family were checking in -- didn't say what villa it was -- when the truck (he said it was a water truck) missed the turn and took out one side of the villa. He texted me photos of the one of the bathrooms, totally destroyed; he also said he "nearly lost" his daughter. They are now at the Westin. They are all a bit shaken, as you can imagine.

Whoa, wait a second, you're telling us your friend and his family were checking into this villa when the truck hit...unreal. I'm really glad to hear that everyone is okay. I can't even imagine the thrill of seeing your villa for the first time and then that...

Best to your friend and his family.

Actually, the story about the 24 year old male is from last month. This is the fatality at Waterlemon yesterday (as stjchica posted earlier):

Pia--do you know anything more about the truck v. villa story...which villa was it? Boy, I always run right into the bathroom when I check into a villa..I would have been squashed.(Not making light of the situation for this poor fellow's daughter. Hope she was an adult.)
