Christmas time in St. John?
Christmas time in St. John?
Hey! I'm new to this forum and have really enjoyed all of the conversations going on here. We have been to St. John a couple of times and are absolutely in-love with it! We currently have a trip booked for December 27th, 2012. Can anyone tell me what it's like at this time? Both of our previous trips were in June, so I imagine things to be somewhat different during peak holiday time. How are crowds, weather, etc. Any and all information would be so much appreciated!! Thanks in advance.
How fun!! I have no info for you..but I bet it is a really great time. Have been to Tortola at the same timeframe and it is fun to see the tropical Christmas decorations, Christmas lights, etc...Hope you have a great time!
Oh...only thing is that sometimes you will get the "Christmas Winds"..But that never affected our plans, etc and would not cause me to not go in Dec...Just be aware of what the sea conditions are at beaches, etc to be safe.
The "Christmas Winds" are basically reinforced tradewinds, and usually kick up in late December (hence the name), but could occur any time during the winter months. The trades normally blow from the easterly sector in the teens, but if the mid-Atlantic High gets well established, it will drive the winds up into the twenties or even low thirties (knots)."

it's generally a bit cooler in the ocean, breezy, and very crowded christmas week-- not quite as bad as presidents day , but it;s gotten worse over the years-- so do expect capacity crowds and plan accordingly (get your jeep soon in other words)
< leaving on the 22nd of march...but too lame to figure out the ticker thing again!>
