Estate Lindholm
Estate Lindholm
I'll go to Estate Lindholm the next August and I'd like to know all what you can tell me about the lodging and the climate in that period.
It's the first time in the USVI for my husband and I and I'd like to know what I can't absolutely forget to take with me.
Thanx
L.

Pack a couple of bathing suits, some shorts, and some t-shirts. Sunscreen, bug spray and snorkle gear.
A wallet full of money and a big smile and you will be all set.
Estate Lindholm is beautiful and Lauren and Brion are very nice people.
I may be down in August myself, maybe we can meet for a drink?

You can expect high temperatures in the upper 80's, lows in the mid 70's and water temperatures in the low to mid 80's. There is always a chance of showers, but they are usually brief and localized. They provide welcome relief on a hot day, and if you prefer to stay dry you can simply move to another area of the island to get out from under the rain cloud.
Pack light and informal. I took one carry-on and a tote bag for my 8 day trip and did not wear everything I brought. Think swim suits, T-shirts, shorts.
The following is my review of our stay at Estate Lindholm in October of 2003. I've never read anything but good comments about the place before or since that time. You will have a wonderful stay:
We chose to stay at Estate Lindholm while celebrating our 25th anniversary in October of 2003. We were looking for something fairly quiet, romantic, but also with someone on site we could ask questions and advice of as needed.
Lauren, Brion and their family were friendly, gracious, attentive, and accomodating in every respect.
The grounds are absolutely beautiful and impeccably maintained. It was delightful to explore the property, and for the first two days we did not even encounter another guest.
We stayed in the Jumbie Room. Views of the harbor and surrounding islands, framed by bouganvillea on our balcony were stunning. The western exposure was perfect for viewing sunsets, and in the early morning hours we could see the moon shining over St. Thomas from the bed, which faces directly towards the balcony.
Breakfasts on the patio overlooking the pool were casual and delicious, with a variety of items to choose from and bananaquits feeding on sugared fruit nearby for entertainment.
Relaxing poolside with a cocktail from the honor bar was the perfect way to unwind each day after hiking and snorkling.
If you are looking for a beautiful, relaxing and utterly romantic spot to spend your days on St. John, you need look no further.
Thank you to Lauren and Brion for making our 25th anniversary trip truly special.

Thankx for the info
I'd like to meet all of the nice people I read on the forum.
As a matter of fact I've actually almost nothing bad about Estate Lindholm and its owners, but I'm somewhat mad about planning, so even if there're so many months between now and our arrival I'd like everything to be perfect.

We stayed in the Reef room on our last visit there. We had stayed at EL one time previously for 2 nights. We had previously stayed in the Caneel Room for two nights (also posted a review 7/6/04). We liked that the Reef room was right by the gate when you walk in. The Caneel Room may have had a better view and was not close to the office but we were fine with both. We didn't spend alot of time in the room anyway.
This was my review:
This was our second stay at Estate Lindholm. We stayed there two nights last summer and loved it. This summer we stayed there 8 nights and loved it even more.
We stayed in the Reef Room which was a "garden level" room. It was close to the entrance which we liked. We never heard anyone else and felt like we were the only ones there.
The room was very nice and the bed was so comfortable. It had a mini kitchen set up with a microwave, coffee maker, sink and mini-fridge. We used the mini-fridge for our beer and drinks but didn't use the other stuff.
Our view was a little obstructed by a small building but not enough to worry about. One room over would have probably been our preference.
We enjoyed visiting with everyone at the breakfasts and sharing where the best snorkeling had been or what restaurants we should try. Most of the people there were couples on their honeymoon or getting married during their stay.
The grounds were beautiful as they were last time. It was a true tropical paradise. The hummingbirds and bannaquits were everywhere. Angel (the cat) was a welcome addition at breakfast too. We didn't use the pool this time but saw others enjoying it.
Estate Lindholm is the best bargain if you are traveling without a group. It is very nice and convenient to town. About half of the people staying there didn't even rent a car. It's location is perfect in my opinion. Close to the North Shore beaches and close to town.
They have beach towels, soft-sided coolers, beach chairs and many more things for the guests to use. We definitely appreciated that!
Lauren and Chris took excellent care of us and made us feel completely at home. We missed seeing Brion this time around. I hope to be able to go back soon.
