Trunk Bay crowds

Post by IndyKato »

I am wondering how busy Trunk is when there are not any cruise ships in port on STT. Is it still best to go there early or late even when there will not be any cruise ship folks? And if so....how early are we talking.

Thanks,

I often visit Trunk after about 3pm and it isn't that crowded, even on days that are clearly busy busy busy with cruise folks from St Thomas. It's a great spot to enjoy the sunset before leaving :-)

If it's a non-cruise ship day, I'd say you could get there anytime. We got there about 11:00 one day and it wasn't too crowded, a few people, yes, but not crowded. :D

Definately check the cruise schedules, we went at 1pm on a non-cruise day and dropped down on the very right side of trunk. About 2pm a large group of people came, guessing they were from the Westin. They invaded us so we moved down to the very left of trunk and had peace until 5pm.

Reminds me we learned that when they say services shut down at 4:30pm they mean it, we lost track of time and found the showers closed, we of course were covered in sand. Live and learn!

I was looking at the schedule for next week, and it shows cruise ships in St Thomas everyday that we're on STJ :( Do they always come to Trunk when they're in STT? There are a couple days with only 1 ship - will those days be as bad?

We were at Trunk today. I think there was only 1 cruise ship in. It wasn't very crowded, but the waves were crazy. We planned to snorkel.... bodysurfed instead! We are all beat up, but had tons of fun!

I know you are not much of a morning person, but we get there really early and then watch the cruise ship people come in. It can be fun. But the afternoons should be good as most excursions head back early.

You rock, Capn Dan and Ruby! The mass invasion is what it is. Take pleasure in the passage of folks enjoying STJ for 3 hours, dropping a bit of cash, and moving on to Jamaica, or Cozumel, or where ever! The people watching is almost a cute as the sea critters.
