Cheating on our Virgin next week
We're headed to Virgin Gorda on Saturday for Easter week. St. John has gotten a tad manic for us during this season (imagine 100+ people on Little Lameshure beach), so we're trying something different. Lots of good tips from JMQ, ACB and Maggy (who we're just missing on VG) - Thanks!!
If you're going to be over VG way next week shoot me a PM. It looks like the North Swell is going to subside on Monday in time for our day trip to Anegada.
We're looking to get back to STJ with some friends in late summer or Fall, maybe even Halloween with the regulars!

We're flying into STT and taking the 4PM VG ferry. We're staying at Guavaberry Spring Bay, so its not fancy. We'll probably do a trip report since this is new for us.PA Girl wrote:Are you flying into VG?

We had a blast at the Mine Shaft. There is (was) a local guy that plays on certain nights and it was a lot of fun. I remember the food being very good as well. I had some sort of conch curry and my husband and friends had lobster.
Many of the restaurants will send taxis to fetch you (free, as far as I know) We had an unpleasant experience with this (waited too, too long both ways) and it was just a pain in the butt, I would rather pay then waste time standing around. Others have reported the same experiences at Leverick as well as other restaurants.
The taxi/giving away our reservations away issue aside, the Leverick BBQ was fun. Reservations are a must and go early. We had a very good meal at the upstairs restaurant later in our stay.
We had the house provisioned and it was really reasonable, like cost plus a $20 delivery fee.
We had fun at Saba Rock. You go to the Leverick Dock and ask them to radio over to Saba. When Saba feels like it, they will come pick you up. Take a drink, I think we waited 45 minutes.
My memory is failing me but I think we had good lunches at Mad Dog and Top of the Baths. There is a pool at the Top of the Baths. I think both would be in walking distance from Guavaberry.
There is an outdoor bar in Spanishtown that overlooks the marina, we spent a nice spell drinking there one morning/afternoon.
Without fail, every time we visited a bar or restaurant, a local would ask us about our stay and offer many suggestions on things to see and do, don't miss this and that, did you like such and such, why or why not? In the best possible way, it seemed like they were invested in our vacation experience.
We are debating between VG, Culebra, and Middle Caicos for next year and are leaning towards VG.

Don't miss going up early (at 7) and take the hike down to the Baths when nobody is there. Hike through the boulders to Devils bay, go for a swim and leave when people start to show up.
Take another morning hike from Spring bay to Valley Trunk beach all the way you can get. Soca might join you.
Eat at the Rock Cafe at least once, the Mineshaft and go to Saba Rock for lunch. There is a new restaurant passed Nail bay above Leverick tht is called Hog Heaven, with gorgeous views, that we're trying this time. I'm curious about that one.
If you want to go snorkeling, go with Dive BVI. These guys are the best. Their afternoon trip is usually to the Dogs. Great snorkeling there and just a short ride.
Visit at least once Savannah bay. Very pretty, good snorkeling and mostly just a few people there. Not too much shade though, but there are a few spots.
