Looking for information on One Love Villa on Rendevous Bay

Post by tochin »

Greetings!

I was looking for any review information for "One Love" villa offered via Caribbean Villas. It seems like a great house with a great writeup but I have yet to find any personal experiences that I find so useful. Has anyone ever stayed at this house or has any additional information that might be great to know ahead of time? 3 months and counting!!!!

Thanks!

I posted the same question here and over on the Trip Advisor site, you are right there is not much feedback to be found. One Love looks great and has good rates, but we went with Blue Agave villa.
The only negatives for us besides lack of reviews posted, is that the villa does not have sunset views and the outside area does not have good outdoor living space or shaded areas. We are going down in June and without a shaded area to set at, One Love looks like you would cook unless you sat in the pool all of the time. We spend very little time inside the villa so the outdoor living area is very important to us.

Jumper, good choice with Blue Agave. We stayed there for 10 days in June 2010. It has plenty of cover and shade outside with pretty good sunset views. One special note the house has two hot water tanks one in the main house that provides hot water to 3 bedrooms and the kitchen and the other provides hot water to the 4th bedroom and the outside shower. The one for the main house has a strange timer on it that sometimes trips. Just push the reset button on the timer to fix. We didn’t know this and didn’t have hot water for a few days and the caretaker, Nancy, didn’t know about it either.

Jimm thanks for the info. and the feedback on Blue Agave!!! I also like the convenient location of the villa to Cruz Bay and St. John market.

Hi tochin, I don't have any experience with "One Love" but we have booked through Caribbean Villas the past 2 years, and trust them to provide an accurate description of the properties. We're headed down again in mid-June ourselves, staying in the Hart Bay / Chocolate Hole area for the first time.

We stayed at One Love three years in a row when it was House With a View. We haven't visited since the house was renovated, but the pool was fantastic with beautiful views. It's about a ten minute drive to Cruz Bay.

We also stayed at this villa when it was "House with a view" a couple years ago but it was in need of maintenance then. It had a a nice pool and good view but the one bedroom by the kitchen was like a closet, the other three were fine. The pictures make it look improved. When we were there we all said it would be a great villa with just the needed maintenance. It's at the end of the road by St. John Passion and Blue Heaven Rendezvous

bedroom by the kitchen?

Post by gulfgirl »

Do you mean the one that is across the outside entrance area in a separate building when you say "the bedroom by the kitchen" and say it is so small? Please clarify- I am also interested in this villa and am having the same problem about finding information.

hi gulfgirl, my partner John is familiar with One Love (has been a real estate agent on the island for 11 years so he knows many houses here!).

he hasn't been in the property since it's been renovated, but he said it appears they have removed the 4th (tiny) bedroom that used to be there. in other words: Caribbean Villas says it has 3 bedrooms, and those are all a decent size. the house used to be called a 4-bedroom, but it's that 4th bedroom that they took out in the renovations. maybe it's repurposed as a closet now. :-)

he says it is pretty sunny out by the pool, but you can always get some shade in the upstairs outdoor dining area.

interestingly, we have some old photos of the villa here, taken before the renovations... I'm comparing them to the renovated photos (the "after" pictures, heh) and they definitely did a LOT of work. it looks greatly improved from when it was "House With a View."

let me know if I can help with anything else!

best,
Eric

Thank you for your reply- I wonder if what used to be that tiny bedroom is now the bath that is off of the kitchen and maybe a laundry room or storage like you said.
I do think the photos look very nice. How was/is the road to the property? That is an important factor to me as well.

my pleasure! and good news... in the past 6 months, the road up to the villa has been paved, so now it's completely paved from cruz bay right to the property. plus, there's a security gate for One Love and the neighboring villa. you should have no problem getting there.

I just checked th pix on caribbeanvilla.com and One Love looks much improved from when we stayed. New paint and countertops. It is now listed as a 3 bedroom instead of four, which it is! We liked the villa but had 4 couples and the small bedroom was just too small for an adult couple. I would rent it again as a 3 bedroom, especially with all the improvements. It has a nice pool, great view and the road wasn't too bad even before it was paved. I love the view from this area, we have also stayed at Blue Heaven Rendezvous which is nearby. Good Luck
