groceries at Food Center? on way to car barge to St John

Post by CBama »

Several years ago when we stayed in Red Hook, we bought groceries at Marina Market and Food Center (not sure of name). It was located toward the end of the road that comes from Bolongo Beach back into Red Hook.

If I remember correctly, Food Center was a little cheaper, but Marina Market had better meat selection.

Does anyone have any experience?

just looking for a quick stop to pick up essentials for breakfast and lunch...not really interested in going to Cost u Less (i think)

thanks.....

We did this last year and stopped at the store just down the road from Redhook. Prices were definitely better than on STJ. I also noticed that their steaks made my Omaha Steaks that I brought with us look like puny little pork chops. This week I have them on the agenda on the way to the docks, and I won't be carting along frozen steak this time. :)

You can't wrong with Food Center.
easy parking.. prices are ok..
the people working there are very pleasant and helpful.
Wish I could say the same about Uncle Joe's !

thanks for your replies!

now I can't decide whether to take down steaks, bacon, chicken etc...or just buy there..

I have a list of so many places I want to eat out....may find it hard to stay at villa and cook.

typically on vacation we eat breakfast and lunch at condo and eat out every evening. This trip will be completely different kind of vacation though since we will have to drive to beaches each day.

One thing about the food center is that they have baggers that will bring your groceries to your car and load them. How long since you've seen that?
