second wind villa reef bay

Post by papabou »

working on last minute trip in early april (4/4 to 4/11) for bride, self and another senior couple. pickings are thin especially when consider our needs since bride is adamant she's spending more time lounging at villa than going to beaches, she's been there done that.

so need: pool, living dining and at least 1 king bdrm with ac on main level, great views, lots of sun but some shade. prefer second bdrm to be king on same level and must have ac. second wind seems to fit bill but she sure is remote and seems access down from parking maybe a hurdle. i'm afraid once there and bride realizes how far removed all beaches are, she may refuse to leave until time to go. palm on gifft hill is available and we love the area (stayed at c9 next door 4 times) but NO shade and afternoons are hot facing that sun.

i know there are a couple folks who have stayed at sec wind and recommend but can't seem to find the threads. comments/help anyone?

We stayed there 2 years ago.

I honestly do not remember any steps from the driveway or steps anywhere. I just asked Chip and he didn't remember any either, but we may just be forgetting them.

The bedrooms are all on the same level, but in different buldings. We loved that.

There are plenty of shaded areas and plenty of sun.

We loved the house. It is not luxurious but it is well cared for. We loved the area as it was quiet.

I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

There are no steps to deal with. The driveway (short) is a little narrow but really not an issues and one gets used to it after 2-3 times. The area is very quite and only 15 minutes from Cruz but I do think your wife will not want to make the drive to beaches if she is not really interested.
The master (separate building on same level) and third bedroom both have kings and are at opposite ends of the villa. Not an elaborate villa but certainly nice and we would also stay again. We tend to stay on the Cocolobo Hill overlooking Second Wind to get sunrise views but the view from SW is unobstructed and watching the cruise ships pass at night was always a favorite evening entertainment.

We stayed at Second Wind with another couple a few years ago. We all loved it. There are no steps. The drive is short and steep but concrete I believe. All one level from driveway throughout the villa. The only improvement that would be nice would be the location of the hot tub. It is situated against the wall and makes you feel cramped. I would and have recommend Second Wind.

thanks all for the info. sounds like the villa will be perfect for our needs, i (as tour director) just need to get comfortable with the remote location. plans for most days at villa will reduce the driving but when we go to any of the north shore beaches, what a drive.

while i doubt the bride would try, i know other hubbie and i will do reef bay and perhaps portions of reef bay trail. web site implies short walk down from villa (per google earth less than 1000 feet) to reef bay but how tough is the path?

any additional help/thoughts will be appreciated.

We stayed at Surfside two years ago.

Loved the area. The day we arrived our greeter(who lives in that area) told us to take advantage of the calm water and go snorkeling. It was the best snorkeling I have seen. It tends to be ruff so if it is calm, go for it.
The path from surfside was easy to the water.
The strangest thing you may encounter is the naked guy who walks the beach :)
The only negative about the area is the drive home from town at night.

Enjoy !!
