Moonsong Villa Review - since I can't access the review site

Post by lpowmacback »

Moonsong is a sweet little light and airy 2 bedroom / 2 bathroom villa overlooking Hart Bay in the Chocolate Hole area on St. John, USVI . It is owned & operated by Linda & Alan of Cloud 9 – who are both lovely and very accommodating!

The Lay of the Villa:
The main level consists of a small but open and airy living room and kitchen combination. There is no dining room set, but a nice counter top with four padded stools that serve well for informal dining. The living room has a small scaled couch and chair, a small tv/dvd player and a cd stereo. There are two sets of double doors (including the entry doors) with jalousie windows and other large windows that allow beautiful, expansive views of mountains and water. There is a big a/c unit in this area, but we never needed it as the ceiling fans were sufficient. There is also a very nice 6 person hot tub on the deck of this level which we thoroughly enjoyed at all hours! Down a step from the deck is a nice gas grill.
The simple little kitchen has the basics – stove, oven, dishwasher, blender, 2 slice toaster, coffee maker as well as various pots & pans, cooking utensils, dishes, glasses, mugs, flatware and some mixing bowls, casserole dishes, plastic containers, etc. :-)
Off of the living room is a bedroom with a queen bed, nice closet with full length mirrors and a bathroom with a shower. There is a set of double jalousie window doors opening out onto the wrap around deck.
To access the 2nd bedroom, one goes out onto the main deck and down a flight of wooden stairs, then a flight of stone steps to a partly paved and graveled walkway leading up to a few more wooden steps to deck where the bedroom is. Again, there are double doors with jalousie windows. This bedroom has a king bed and a nice bathroom with a shower. There is an A/C unit down here as well, but we never needed it - - the ceiling fan was enough.
On the ground level, a few steps down from the 2nd bedroom deck, is a little path that leads to an area under the house that houses the washer and dryer – and some supplies that the landlord stores there for the house.

My Thoughts
All in all, we LOVED Moonsong – It is a lovely villa, with beautiful views. It is also so conveniently located!! Cruz Bay is minutes away as are all of the markets & grocery stores in that area... and Baked In The Sun!! We liked that access to the south part of the island is a bit more convenient than staying in Cruz Bay too. We also loved being able to hike down to Hart Bay & Chocolate Hole!

The only issue we had with Moonsong was the internet connection. The house has no router of its own and relies on the one inside Sundance, another villa on the same property (also owned by Cloud 9). We were only able to get a signal from the bedroom upstairs – and in the bathroom off the downstairs bedroom (areas closest to Sundance). The major problem was that it kept needing to be reset by either the people renting Sundance (when they were around) or by Linda or Allen coming to the house & doing it themselves. It seemed to go out in the evening – perhaps when more people from both houses were home & going online– and since we didn’t want to bother anyone after 9pm, we just had no internet at times- which was a bit frustrating… but we survived .

My hope is that they will get Moonsong its own router – because we loved the house & its location so much- we’d love to return to it!!
Peace,

Lisa

Thanks for your review! We stayed at Sundance a couple of years back and loved it, so I'm glad to hear good things about Moonsong also. We agree that the location is wonderful and such an easy drive!!

Hi...we are thinking of renting Moonsong or Sundance. Are the two close to each other or is there enough privacy between the two? Is that area quiet? Thanks!

Saint, the area is very quiet. The two homes are pretty close- but unless they are outside & talking loudly, you won't even know they're there.
Peace,

Lisa
