do you lock your rental car?

Post by strat62 »

assuming you leave nothing in it, is it just better to leave it open ( or maybe windows rolled down?) thought i saw it posted somewhere that their strategy was that if somebody sees an open car they figure there's nothing worth stealing? what's the rental companies policy? ( if there is one )

No matter what, do not leave your windows down! A pop up shower will make for a very wet jeep!

We lock it but there is never anything in it anyway. Just habit,I guess.

We lock ours even though we leave nothing in it because most Insurance will not pay if you left the doors unlocked.

We always rent with L&L...seems to me like their policy is to keep them locked at all times. Maybe I'm remembering incorrecly...but yes, I wouldn't leave the windows down anyway due to sudden showers.

If everybody locks then the crooks don't get a clue. Locking is helping your neighbor.

We always keep the doors locked. We used to leave the windows partially down until
Vie's chicken decided to get into the car. When we opened the door it laid an egg out of fright!

Most of the time our rental was parked within our view, but we learned early to roll those windows up, even in the villas driveway!! Nothing like a car full of bugs!! And of course the aforementioned rain!

On STJ, we keep it locked.

When on Provo, we were asked by the rental company to please keep it unlocked, apparentely on Provo the theives assume any locked car is worth breaking a window to see what is inside.
