We skipped Francis last trip, but last summer we had a large group of guys set up next to us who had brought a radio with them, they spent the day dancing away to Lady Gaga. Lady Gaga and St. John beaches don't go together in my mind, but everyone is different! Another time we had a really loud, crude, and increasingly drunken group next to us. In that case we picked up and moved down the beach.
Francis is the only place we've been bothered by amplified music, which is illegal in the national park. I think there is still a sign at Francis saying that it's illegal. If people want to listen to Lady Gaga or anyone else, that's what headphones are for :)

We had this exact same experience maybe 5ish years ago with servers making fools of themselves at Francis!

WOW! I'm surprised at the people who have had bad experiences there! I've only been there on a day trip while on a cruise in June or July. We usually get there around 0900 and leave at lunch or so. Maybe that's why we've missed the crowds. Boy, I hope we don't have those experiences in May because it would make me search out for a new favorite place on Earth :( . I don't know, maybe I should do that anyway this trip. HA!

Thank you all for your replies!

We had a loud and rowdy crowd at Little Lameshur last year. I was pretty disappointed in them, and wondered why we drove so far to have our peace disrupted.
We just sucked it up, but it sure bummed us out. :(
