Post by ellena »

Hi all,

5th trip to stj next sat and bringing kids (20's) We haven't hiked before- do you need hiking boots for the hikes or are sneakers sturdy enough. Thanks, Ellen

We have hiked most of the trails there and do not wear hiking boots. We find closed toe teva's,keen's or something like that are better than tennis shoes. Some of the rocks are slippery at times and that type of bottom of shoe works best for us.,

Definitely no to the boots. I usually hike in my Keens, but I will say, on our last trip there were a couple of hikes that I was wishing for a little more ankle support. Those were hikes of 8 plus miles, and I'm getting a little "long in the tooth".  Light hikers perhaps, boots definitely not.
