Angels Rest

Post by FinsUp »

Does anyone have any details about
From what I can tell, it is a swim up restaurant? Just how far does one have to swim?
It looks as if it's location "varies". How do you know where it will be?

Angel's Rest is basically a floating "bar". Pete usually heads out to Vie's and is a short swim away. If necessary, he will pull in as far as possible for you to board. He usually posts his whereabouts each day on facebook but can be reached at 340-514-6270 to find out. He also does sunset charters, etc. I've enjoyed a few libations on board for a different experience. You will find him in coral bay at night.

That would be kinda neat to float around. Is there a cover charge or just a charge for drinks? Might be an idea for our up coming trip...:)
I always thought it was just a day trip charter kinda boat..

The web site it looks like it is rented out for like day sails, does he just take it out and park so just anyone can stop in? And only does this on days when he has no bookings?

He doesn't do a lot of day sails, so most of the time he just anchors and anyone can swim up. Basically, if you see it, you are welcome. On days Vie's is closed, he seems to go to Hansen. Pete respects Vie's property rules and they seem to have somewhat of a symbiotic relationship. Please be sure to pay Vie if you intend to access the beach via her property.

TOO COOL! It's like the Mister Tasty ice cream truck, but it has loungers and booze! Does he play a catchy jingle so you know he's coming?

This is terrific: Only on St. John!

Minde I was thinking exactly the same thing - like Mr. Frosty for grown-ups :)
"It's Five O'clock Somewhere" strikes me as an appropriate jingle...

Met Peter in Feb..he pulled up at Vie's and was there for the entire day. We swam out and had a drink, or two, or three (!!) and a nice chat with him. I was concerned that he had stepped on Vie's toes and I am still not sure if they are "friends"! When I asked, he was quick to point out that she only owns the path (and property around it), not the beach or waters. We ate at Vie's and had a beer there as well...need to share the love, especially on her turf, and I love me some Vie's!! (respectfully, he doesn't serve food, except pretzels and tootsie rolls.) He does charter but not sure how often. He's not allowed in the National Park so Vie's is where he is most often (I believe). His boat is really pretty and very clean and good fun!

Spent some time on it yesterday while it was at Vie's. Enjoyed meeting Peter and drinking some rum punches! Highly recommended. Friends here call it the Willy T of St. John. :)
