Talk to me about Coral Bay Beaches

If you had to pick 1 (it can not be Salt Pond) which one would it be and why?

I'll pick 2. Or, maybe 3. Good news is that Maho is a 10 minute drive from Coral Bay.

Now, to answer your question....Miss Vies is #1. You pay 2.50 for access but it's a lovely beach and the weather always seems to be perfect. I like the convenience of the snack shop for a cold beer. Be sure to make sure she is open when you go.

#2 is Lameshur. The drive is a bit tough but I like the white sandy beach and the view from the ruins. Be sure to plan well and bring lunch and beverages so once you get there ou can chillax. A stop at the Tourist Trap on the way back is a must.

#1) slight drive up/down....Maho (great sea life)
#2) Lameshur, out to left side point and around, stop at teenie, tiny beach (good sea life, quieter beach)

(this year we want to snorkel the mangroves)

Maho Probably 10 minutes from where you are staying - it will be closer than Saltpond (as will Francis)

I have never been to Vie's or Lameshur so I guess they are on the list!

We are doing 2 different boat days so I have to pick my beaches carefully! I want to be sure that I try 1 new beach and then get to Maho and Gibney.

That is too funny....I am not a Saltpond person either and it has nothing to do with the hike. (I thought I was the only one) I like Vie's beach and Kiddle Bay when I want to stay on the Coral Bay side of the island. The bonus is at Vie's you can get awesome conch fritters anytime!

I can not believe that after all the years of living and visiting, I have neverbeen to Vie's. Looks like that will have to be our new thing this trip.
Trying to fit a lot into this trip since it looks like we will be taking 2013 off to go to Paris.

Can someone tell me if there is decent shade at Vie's beach either morning or afternoon? We also do not like Salt Pond- the sand never seemed that nice and it was always very hot there- we need shade.

There is shade, but you have to get there in time to get it. Immediately to the right of the path you enter on is shady with sea grapes and then about 1/2 way down the beach is the *best* spot, under a bigger tree.

We made our first trip to Vie's in February. I can't believe it took us so long, we loved it! We did take our own chairs and I am glad we did as many that are there are rather broken down.

Lameshur? Not so much.....Maybe it is beause I live in the country but long, rough, bumpy roads don't appeal to me, I get enough of that at home.

Francis is a short trip also and is my favorite on island and Vie's is a close second.

Well, I'll throw Haulover South in there. It's not sandy, but for whatever reason, when we've had a full day of bopping around the island, Haulover South is always an "easy" beach to spend some time at, and I usually have a good snorkel there. It's the beach we end up at in the middle of the afternoon, mix ourselves a little adult beverage, and just chill. The nice thing is we're close to "home" when we're ready to pack up.

Not a beach, but a snorkel of the mangroves would seem to be a must-do on that side.
