Manta Ray in Francis

Post by surfnh »

Sorry, another pic today....after snorkeling the morning at Waterlemon, we took it easy at Francis in the afternoon, but left our snorkeling gear back at the house, along with our underwater camera. Then of course at Francis, the dang Manta Ray was doing laps back and forth along the beach, like 5' from us! It was ridiculous, you didn't even have to search for it, as there was a horde of snorkelers and people on SUP's following the thing around all afternoon! Check out this pic....oh well, I promise to get a good pic of it to post while we're here, all we have today are some pics from the beach. The thing is really huge!

That is so cool, especially to see the size compared to the people around it! Hope it's still there in June for our next trip

Actually one time we were standing in the water after a swim, and it swam between my wife and me, like 4' from each of us, just incredible! We thought we needed people in the pic to get a feel for the size, glad you noticed!

I think we saw him a few weeks ago. We just hung out in the water and he came real close to us....then he went down the beach and the people freaking out down the beach! Thanks for the great picture.

Is it wrong that I'm a little jealous? I would have loved to see this Manta Ray last time I was at Francis. But, thanks for sharing. It's the next best thing to being there. :? :? :?

We were at Maho sitting on the beach on Tuesday during Presidents' week and there were 5 rays swimming back and forth just a few feet from the sandy beach. We do not snorkel anymore and were so happy and surprised to see them. :D

Hey VIlanders- we were at Maho on Tuesday last week as well! We were in the water with the rays and turtles- saw 2-3 regular rays out closer to the middle, and it was a turtle aquarium! But no Manta that we saw. Funny we were there the same time. I think we were there 12-4 ish. It was CROWDED that day...
