question about the weather/rain?

Post by strat62 »

getting ready for our trip in a couple weeks and have been checking the 10 day forecast for stj on the weatherchannel.com. forecast is always showers or scattered showers EVERY day. does it rain that much or is this some forecasting quirk?

Ahh the age old weather question, like lisa said, it rains but not for very long, and not necessarily all across the island. You can get sprinkled on in cruz bay, but it can be dry on the other end. Usually they move through pretty quickly. The weather channel is not the best resource for VI weather. I use wunderground, and there are some other resouces that the local on island folks might point you.

A rain sprinkled day on STJ beats any day at home.

We just got back..I never looked at the weather once before we went....it will scare you, but as 2muchsnow says, they move through quickly..one end could be dry and the other rainy...but only briefly, I promise!

Best thing to do if you are at the beach and a small shower starts - grab something to drink, put on a hat, and get in the water and enjoy! 8)

The weather has been great - mostly short night showers.
Check the webcams for real time affirmation.
You might use www.weathercarib.com locally produced and tons of info and forecast data.

ok, i figured as much. guess i just wanted some reassurance. coming from my perspective where we live, if the weather report says rain, it does and it is likely to rain all day (and maybe several days in a row at that). it's not uncommon for weeks to go by here in the winter with no sun, although it's been not too bad lately.
19 more days....i can't wait...':D'
