Ram Head question
I know this is an exposed hike. So, if we take plenty of water, sun protection, and wear shoes or sturdy sandals could an active 5 (nearly 6) year old handle the hike?

I recently hiked Ram Head and did not find it to be difficult at all. I hiked out around 3-4 p.m. and the heat was never a factor. As long as your child is not a wandered, you should be fine. There are a lot of very high cliff near the end of the trail so you definitely will want to be very careful. But as far as difficulty, I do not think it's that bad. It's also pretty windy up there so just keep that in mind. That being said, I'm sure you will have a lovely hike.

I made this hike in August with my 5 and 11 year old, they didn't have any problems. You definitely want to be careful on those ledges at Ramshead as well as some points before you get to Blue Cobblestone beach- there are some BIG drop offs.
Make sure you stop and listen to the water rustling the stone while coming and going at Blue Cobblestone beach - it awesome,
If you ask my 11 year old daughter "Whats your favorite beach on StJ" she chooses Blue Cobblestone... not that its not beautiful - just not expected from an 11 yr old.
