Has anyone redeemed AA FF miles for hotel room
Has anyone redeemed AA FF miles for hotel room
In the past few years, we have been flying other airlines to STT, because AA requires a 3 hop from Washington, DC. (WASH - MIA - SJU - STT), so it takes too long. (It used to be WASH - SJU - STT and usually there by 3pm). I saw on the Advantage website you can redeem miles for nights at a hotel. A night at the Westin would require 54,700 miles (wow!). We are considering looking into using the miles for hotel nights, since we may not use the FF miles for flying. Has anyone done this before?
Thanks
Thanks
We've redeemed AA miles for a hotel stay, but it was so long ago I don't remember much about it, sorry. One night at the Westin (where we've never stayed) for 54K miles sounds like a lot of miles, but if you don't need them for air travel, why not?
But in regard to flying AA to STT from DC . . . we've always used AA for this itinerary and never had more than one stop, typically in MIA. On our last trip, they routed us instead through JFK on our return, which worked fine.
I've been watching AA for "normal" (35K FF mile) roundtrips between DCA and STT. A few have opened up, but most roundtrips on AA to Caribbean locations still require 70K FF miles.

Thanks for the info. It looks like I need to check on AA flights again for our next trip. Perhaps its due to the month we normally fly. Last June, we used AA to come home from BVIs. Beef Island to SJU to Miami to DCA. Due to delays, got stuck in Miami overnight (at AA's expense). I think its more "cost effective", so to speak, to use the miles for flights. However, just considering alternative ways to use miles, if we don't use them for flights. For this year's trip, we are flying home on United - non-stop STT to DCA. Yay!
