help! calling texas forumites!

Post by loria »

our school spring break is april 6-15th....(or whatever) My husband has business in San Antonio that first weekend...so i was trying to think if we could find a place that we'd be able to combine a vacation and his business....(i really would rather be on STJ... but i am not sure that will work... SO....is San Antonio nice that time of year or is there someplace nice in texas that we could chill a few days?
thanks all

I live 100 miles south east of San Antonio and my wife and I are actually headed there tomorrow for a few days. April is a nice time to visit. High temps will probably be in the 80's. Everything will be in bloom if the drought hasn't killed it. In a normal year, April is not that wet...averages 2.50" of rain in April...So, come on down... :D

I live about 45 miles from Port Aransas and Corpus Christi. The beaches here are nice...not nearly as nice as St John, however. The beaches are sand instead of coral sand. Golden sand...not white sand. Seaweed can be a problem, but I don't think it starts washing up in full force until May. They try to keep it off the main beaches. The water will still be cool. If you haven't been to a Gulf of Mexico beach, I would say to head this way. Port Aransas is a neat place to hang out for a few days...good food and friendly people. Port A is about a 3 hour drive from San Antonio...not to bad...

The JW Marriott is a new resort in North San Antonio and is fantastic! Great lazy river, slides, and pool (heated). Golf, kids club, spa, etc. Check out their website. Downtown SA (About 20-30 min from the JW) is fun with the Alamo and the riverwalk- you can def spend most of a day there. I can give you more detail on that (have been a few times and lived there for a year). That time of year it's a great 3/4 day trip and the weather is usually great. There are also some fun things around the hill country near San Antonio (my parents live there).

I have not been to the beaches down there but I'm always a fan of the beach, too ;-)
