T&E trip report - last day - sniff sniff
Day 8:
Our last full day – Booo. I can’t believe how you wait and wait and wait for a vacation, then BOOM, it’s over just like that. It seems like we were just getting off that plane in STT.
We start off the day with breakfast of pancakes and anything left over that’s in the fridge. Left over steak from the other night, my chicken from Morgan’s Mango, etc… After we clean up, we are packing the back packs and cooler, and it’s off to Salt Pond. We’ve only been there once, and I didn’t remember how far out it is. But we get there, and it’s packed, because it’s a gorgeous day! We make the hike down to the beach, set our stuff down and get to snorkeling. It’s a very nice snorkel, and lots of big fish. I didn’t see anything out of the ordinary though… kinda rough coming back in, and now my mask is leaking! For cripes sake! I have been using the toothpaste all week (good tidbit Pia), and it’s been working great, now it’s leaking! It is an older mask, so Eric gives me his while he just treads water for a while. He looked at mine and found where the water was coming in, the seal is broken… I guess it’s time for a new snorkel mask for our next trip. We finish up our snorkel, and out of the water and now to the dreaded hike up the hill. Wow, that’s a loooong way up! Okay, that’s done…
we head back towards the North Shore, stopping at Island Blues, to see if maybe, just maybe, the new owners might still make the crab bisque that Eric likes so much… Well, she looked at us like we were crazy – NO SOUP FOR YOU!
I spot donkeys across the street, so I make a beeline for them, and I have a few carrots to give to them. Next stop our favorite beach – Maho, for the last time. Ahh Maho, how we will miss you while we are gone.. But I have to say, it has gotten quite busy in the 5 years we’ve been coming here… What happened to that nice little beach that no one knew about??? Waaaahhhh, I want it back! So, I’m floating, snorkeling, floating, snorkeling.. Say good bye to the turtles for another year.
Stop at Starfish one last time for some dinner fixins. Come home, sit in the hot tub for a little while, make dinner, and once again, we are so tired, we can’t see straight. I love vacations!
Tomorrow we leave our little slice of paradise again. One day I will win the lottery, and I will buy that house that I’ve got my eye on on Fish Bay Road… Until then… Bye St. John, I will certainly miss you. As Kenny says.. "And in the morning I'm leaving... making my way back to Cleveland... " (I really am!)
Thanks again for reading my trip reports, I really did enjoy sharing our vacation with my forum friends.

I'm going to miss reading your reports,Tami. I love how you write about your day. And if (no,WHEN) you buy a house on the island, you can write about that adventure, too. Won't that be great!
Friends, they go away then they re-appear...I believe there is Magic here.
