Newark Airport Parking Advice

Post by Nancy_B »

I can't believe we leave in less then 2 days for 13 days on St. John - yah!

For the first time, we're flying out of Newark v. Philly. We saved over $500 by doing so and we couldn't pass it up.

What this means though is that we have to leave our home around 4:30 a.m. for our 7:45 a.m. flight - UGH!

Any advice on where to park in Newark? Is it easy or do we need to allow extra time for parking and transport to the airport?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Nancy - I don't have any specific advice for EWR, but have you looked into spending the night at a hotel near the airport that allows you to leave your car for the duration of your trip? We just did this under similar circumstances at BDL, and ended up paying $108 for the hotel room, but we didn't have to pay long term parking. (As an aside, the long term parking at Hartford is incredibly cheap, so I don't think we saved any money, but we didn't have to leave our house at 2 am to catch our flight.) Just an idea.

Nancy:

Except for when I get dropped off/picked up at EWR by a family member or friend, I've had great experiences using ABC Parking, on North Avenue in Elizabeth. About a mile from NJ Turnpike Exit 13A.

Their vans run very frequently to & from EWR. Return pickup location is dependent of the terminal you're arriving at.

You can make a reservation on their website to get the cheapest rate. (Print the reservation out.)

PM me if you have any questions.

If I remember correctly, I'm pretty sure we used these folks a while back and it worked fairly seamlessly.

I've left a car in the Newark airport long term parking for a week before. No problems. They have a shuttle bus from the lot to the terminal. I seem to remember EZPass for payment as an option. Just allow enough time.

Have also used The Parking Spot and will again in May. More expensive than parking near Phila airport but it is what it is. Make sure you use their coupon.

Hi Nancy, I just sent you a pm, but you can also use fast track/avistar at ewr. We have used them many times, Google them online. They have good shuttle service and AAA discount.

Toes, I'll be sure to use Slimans once I'm on island :)

Thanks all! I made an online reservation...it's crazy the range in pricing for parking - from 9-20/day. I'm glad I asked because I was originally just thinking I'd park in their long term parking and once I started seeing lots sold out for my date, I'm glad I did this. Now, I know exactly where I'm going and at 6 a.m., this will be key.

Can't wait to be on St John :)
