St John Relay for Life

I have been a Relay for Life junkie for several years in our area and due to some crazy circumstances, we are not going to be able to have a team this year. So I was wondering if anyone wanted to join me and have an "online Forum team" for the STJ Relay which is happening the second weekend in February. There may be some Forumites on island for 8 Tuff Miles or Just Surf as the weekends they are scheduled surround relay's weekend. If so- they might be able to go and if we get T shirts or anything - they could pick them up for us, but I would be happy to talk to the organizers and tell them I will be down in June. We all know someone effected by cancer and I just want to raise money and awareness so i thought I would see if anyone was interested plus i love giving back to a place that gives me so much pleasure!

If people are interested- we need a catchy little name and I will sign us up!! If not know biggie!

ERL- I am interested- what does it mean to do it and not be there? I will be on-island after the event for 8 Tuff, but would love to try to support. Keep me posted!

SOTB - if 1 person besides me said they were interested then I was going to commit to contacting them and seeing if they want our "online" team. Basically we would try to generate funds and have people donate to Relay for Life- All proceeds go to American Cancer Society To promote awareness an help survivors meet their current needs at a local level- transportation to treatment, wigs, bras. Food,prosthetics, etc.

How do you like " wish we were full timers" for a team name? I am open to anything???

I just sent the email to them - in the past events I have done- you have a before event fundraiser and a fundraising event here. So the easiest thing for us to do - is ask our friends if they want to donate under our team name. as soon as they give us the go ahead - we can sign up and everything can be done online
now if anyone wants to get fancy and raffle a villa for a few days and donate the proceeds, we could do that as well. any talent any one has we could do that as well. ( we have done garage sales but thats mostly when my soccer team was involved and getting the kids hours and getting rid of junk as well. we always sell my cookies for relay before this year and make a few hundred dollars.
as soon as we hear back , we can start signing up team members- can't imagine them saying NO- you guys rock - i just didn't want to be the only one!!

just got a reply- she was so nice- she has to check a couple things but she thinks it will be no problem! she thinks we can have a team and if we need a rep on island she will sign up on our team and be our local rep! As soon as she says its a go- I will let you know and we can sign sign up and start getting donations! she sounded so excited that we wanted to do this!!

Got a reply from the Chair- they are really excited that we are interested- their next mtg is Jan3- we will either be able to have a team or be hooked up with a local business. They are really excited about us joining in!!! will update after holidays with new post!!
