Does this perfect place exist?

Post by nancyr84 »

We LOVE St John and it will always be my favorite, however we do go other places from time to time. The out islands of the Bahamas are a favorite too. That being said I would love to find a destination that offers beach front villa with pool , good to great snorkeling from shore, and under $3000 week off season. On St John great snorkeling , many Villas to pick from but no beach front. Eleuthera has a handful of Villas with pools but snorkeling so so. Has anyone been to that perfect combination. Just the 2 of us so doesnt have to be a mansion but nice. Mexico is out hubbie says no.

Anegada in the BVI -- absolutely beach front -- if you can enjoy the Bahamian out islands the slow pace of Anegada won't bother you - and the snorkeling is excellent!
If a pool is a necessity that might be the hardest thing to find. There is no fresh water in the Virgins for the most part - on STJ wealthy villa owners just pay big $$ for desalinated water to be trucked to the rental properties - Anegada is less than 30' above sea level and gets very little rain so it is not easy to maintain a pool.

I've always wanted to book one of the villas on Virgin Gorda's Mahoe Beach! Gorgeous beach, pool, great snorkeling. Might be worth looking into.

We stayed there in 2009 and it was incredible. The house prices are lower than STJ and right on the beach with daily maid service. We will go back.

I also want to check out Gauvaberry on VG.

We stayed on Provo twice. There are many, many beach front or very near to the beach rentals. Snorkelling from the beach is great in spots, but only in spots. Provo has a lot of large scale development, lots of multi-story condos, large resorts, etc.

We have looked at Adagio villa on Virgin Gorda. Its a few steps back from Mahoe Beach, with a pool and a lovely view. The snorkeling is supposed to be great from the beach there, but we haven't snorkeled there since it has limited public parking and we weren't staying there. Its definitely on our list. Not sure it fits your criteria, but check it out on-line. I don't know the owners, but have corresponded with them when I wanted to rent it (they were booked for our week that year). I can pm it to you if you are interested.
There was one villa right on the beach on Spring Bay (Virgin Gorda), that looks wonderful. I don't know the name, but you could probably find it on-line. I seem to recall it was very pricey.
We stayed at Guavaberry, which was great, but not on the beach and no pool.

Where we stayed?

We rented Open Deck, which is one house back from the beach. The slope is gradual so all the houses have beach views.

Do you mean which house are we booking on Mahoe? Or which tree house at Guavaberry?
