My wife an I are addicted to the Adirondacks too!! We 'visited' STJ just like these people did... for part of a day, from a cruise ship, and now we're headed back for our first week 'on the rock'. I think we're onto something special... just like the ADKs.

I enjoyed their visit, even though I was kind of running around like a nut that day. I even got to talk to Susan on the phone.
I think they took a photo of Curly Spice. Not sure.
No offense to your parents, though, it definitely would have been more fun if it had been you and Susan.

It was nice of your parents to take the time to go to St John Spice for you.

Re the Adirondacks, 2 weeks ago I spent a "girls" weekend in a lodge in Lake Placid. While the other 3 went shopping, I went for a hike alone. I was scared I would get lost, but made it and it was beautiful. Afterwards, I texted my husband "survived hike". He was home and texted back "survived nap"

We had friends who visited STJ a few years back and decided not to return because there's JUST NOT ENOUGH TO DO THERE. :) They followed the trip with one to Cancun. :? To each his own! To be fair, we also love Hawaii but as someone already pointed out, they are very different places, STJ has charms that you cannot find anywhere else.

Our first trip was to STT recommended by good friends who always stayed at Caneel on STJ. We had a free time share at Bolongo Beach. We were told to go to the Kmart and get our booze and buy groceries next door. We did not have a good experience doing this as it was late at night (stupidly) and the "fake" taxis were a pain in the butt. So, it intimidated us a bit. We knew nothing of either one of the islands at that point.

But then we were enjoying our morning coffee on our deck and our neighbors next to us filled us in on what to do. Rent a jeep and get to STJ every morning early. They were so sweet.

After that we never went to STT again. It was only STJ. I have met this secret society at work that secretly talk about their friends that they have on STJ and how they go and spend a week or so with them.

It really is a "Secret Society"

We got home Saturday (actually Sunday) at 12:10 am. The shipment from St. John Spice was at our PO Box Monday morning and the smell of the single Spice Sampler that we purchased permeated the truck as I drove off. The truck and I were transported back to those twisty, steep roads as I drove to work with that precious package and I found myself not sure of which side of the road I should be driving on. So many intense memories are triggered by the olfactory sense and I will always welcome anything that reminds me in any way of my times on STJ

Come on Pip...at least they were nice enough to go to your little island and pick up some spices for ya.

I seem to recall watching a video of you performing your "I Rub The Spices on My Body Dance" complete with a coconut shell bra at StJ Spice a while back.

Ruth's must be at Temple-level for you by now.

And no...they absolutely don't "get it". Worse yet, they will now be able to talk down about your little island in an authoritative tone since they've now "done" St John's
