10 great days at Daffodil Villa, when can we go again?

Post by toni »

Back home last night (or specifically early this am after the drive from the airport!) after 10 great days.

Just a quick initial posting.

Made it with just carry on again, here's what we used, 2 bags for me, 2 for him:

I was proud I didn't use the expandable section on the backpack

We don't own snorkel gear and he brought some dry goods food, but that was it. We intended to eat out at new places and we did. Did bring a neat sheet-that took up some space, but is always great for the beach.

Even with this small packing I still brought clothes that I didn't wear! :x

Great weather, BEAUTIFUL views from the villa-first time for us Daffodil Villa in Fish Bay. Recently changed hands and the owner's sprucing it up. Beautiful sunrises:

and sunsets: (feel like Fiddler on the Roof...)

More detail stuff to follow-for everytone who's leaving shortly, have a wonderful Thanksgiving on the rock!

We've stayed at Daffodil a couple of times. What are the new owners doing to it? It begs for a hot tub in the corner of the deck over where the round table is. :)

Welcome home, and thank you for the teaser pics! Sunrise AND sunset view would be so wonderful! I was driving down Fairmount in Lakewood this afternoon, behind a car with a grape decal on one side of the rear window, and a palm tree on the opposite side. It made me smile and send a good wish out for you! Was it you?

I applaud anyone who can travel that lightly. I have a serious problem when it comes to packing! (I also have the same LLBean beach bag...love it)

Can't wait to hear more 8)

I saw your name come up when I researched the place, then I read your reviews in the guest book :)

When we bookehe any months ago, the pictures on the website showed an interior that was all white ;a week or two prior to coming down I checked the web again and the pictures had changed, plus the descriptions had somewhat too. The pool is heated now(I think that was a concern before), but I will say I thought it could be amped up on the temp still. Considering how much sun it gets, it does get cool up there with all the breezes! there is a solar cover too which we used one day, but I don't know how much of a difference it really made. He has a pergola over the table, don't know if there is a plan for the hot tub, more plants on the outside, painted much of the interior in bold colors, and is possibly painting the outside too. New furniture too. I'll post a review in the villa section, but take a look at the website, you should see some changes. Kathy from island getaways said they contacted former renters to tell them and I thought offer a discount.

Ha, funny coincidence but not me. My license is stj usvi, so that's a giveaway, though I do have a grape decal too

Hummmm, I'm not sure I'm liking the changes. It was so bright and airy before, it looks dark and less inviting now, on the inside. Oh well. That solar cover for the pool was there when we were and it was kind of a pain in the rear, plus, for it to be effective, you have to put it over the pool during the day. Well, we liked hanging around the villa a lot during the day so...we either didn't use it or put it on and couldn't use the pool (which defeats the purpose, really).

We did love the views up there. That hasn't changed. :)

Looking forward to more of your report!!

(Oh, I think it's neat that you got to read our entries in the guest book!)

Thank you for posting this. Looking forward to your review, especially about the villa. Two trips ago we met the rep & went up there & got to see this villa for possible future trip. Interested to see your pics/hear your perspective from staying there.

Thanks again!

I'm totally impressed at how lightly you travel. I am working on that technique. We've done carry-on only once. Thanks for the pictures. Looking forward to more.

Thanks! :)

But honestly, if we brought lots of food or snorkeled and needed to bring gear, we'd have problems.

It's more difficult too in the cold weather seasons because we change clothes in the connecting airport so need to have space in the luggage for the jeans/sweatshirts/jackets that come off - surprisingly  they take up more space than a T and shorts!

I just HATE getting nickel and dimed by the airlines and having them charge me for a checked bag. Silly I know but I just wish they'd roll it into the price of the ticket and I'd feel better. Southwest is good for that. When we cruise I love getting dressed up-floor length dresses etc, so for that kind of travel I'll take extra bags, but for the islands, if I have a washer I'll do a wash middle of the week and I'm all set. Though I admit I still think....hmmm, will anybody know that I'm wearing the same shirt I wore 2 days ago???
