The spice cam depresses me
In the morning, I always look at the spice cam. Today it was SO sunny that everything looked whited out.
Happy for the people that are on Island, but I'm very depressed that I have no ticker
Anybody else feel like that when they check the cam?

"Paradise...it's a state of mine"
I do feel the same way when I see everyone getting off around 20 past the hour I wish I was there too. When we go on vacation I always call my daughter when we are getting off the ferry and ask her to save a pic from the Spice Cam and I make it my screensaver. It makes me feel a bit better to look back on those.

I love to look at the Spice Cam and wish I was there. (I just looked and its a beautiful day there!) I try to turn it into a very positive thing of remembering our wonderful times there and let that warm our hearts. Especially this time of year, for me, its a good reminder to focus on being thankful for blessings such as being able to travel to the Caribbean. So many others are struggling just to live day to day and have lost jobs and/or houses.
Thank you Ruth for maintaining the spice cam to give us these glimpses of St John!

Connie, I feel the bitter sweet. After six years of several two week and one weeks trips, 2012 isn't looking promising. It is so sad to think that I won't be able to step off the dock next summer. We have done first year by ourselves, second year with younger son and daughter, several years with Capt. Dan and Ruby and our good friends, Pat and Ron, for two of those years. June was the grad trip for oldest grand and her best friend. So many wonderful trips and not one on the horizon. It doesn't mean that I won't keep watching the spice cam or the forum, just means I'll be sighing a lot! Is anyone else in this crappy situation of not finding a way to make it happen next summer? It really messes with my mojo not to have a plan....??

I am making it back next summer but I know in my heart it will be our last trip. Retirement doesn't allow for too many island vacations I'm afraid. I feel sad but blessed we could pull it off as many times as we did. St. John is my special place on earth and always will be. I'm sure when I get to heaven it will look and feel just like Maho on a perfect day.

I feel you on the Spice Cam blues! When we do have a trip booked I use the spice cam as a nonsensical superstition: if it's raining on the cam we will have rain on our trip. Silly, I know. If we have no trip booked I still look, which I shouldn't because next thing you know I am googling all sorts of trip bargains for a trip we are not even taking! Full blown addiction to St. John I guess. Did anyone ever finalize a twelve step program for this??????
I also look at the spice cam multiple times daily normally when I'm on hold on the phone at work. With one child just out of college, a sophomore in college and a sophomore at a private Catholic high school we are in that tight money stage of our life.
Bright news is, we plan to go back to St. John in 2 ½ years to celebrate both our daughters graduation and our 30th wedding anniversary. Next year at this time I'll start searching for a Villa.
